Hello everyone, I am a registered nurse, with three years of RN experience, two of which have come from working circulating in the OR at an eye surgery center. However, I've always wanted to work in the Main OR and wanted to go through a full periop 101 fellowship. I reside in New York right now, but I have my CA RN license and am looking to relocate there by the end of this year/beginning of next year. I am looking into periop 101 programs and so far I've come across CHLA, Providence TIP, CHOC, and UCLA. I am looking to move to either LA, OC, or San Diego. Besides the above mentioned experienced nurse transition programs, I have not come across others. Anyone who is familiar with California, would you be able to give your input as to what other facilities may offer such a fellowship?

Thank you!

Not CA, but I wouldn’t limit yourself to only places that state fellowship. We have a 5-6 month long preceptored orientation but don’t call it anything fancy.

@Rose_Queen thank you for your response! I’ve tried to look for just regular OR positions, but often times they state they want at least 1 year Acute Care experience in the OR, which I don’t have. That’s kind of been my dilemma so I’ve opted to look for Fellowships. I’ve noticed This trend in California specifically, here in NY they also don’t always state fellowship but will still hire to train for the OR.

I'm in the same boat, open to all preceptorship possibilities. Have you found anything interesting in CA yet?

@FloatDaddy I’m looking into preceptorship right now but the ones I mentioned at the start of this thread are opening soon, one already was posted about 2 weeks ago for providence orange county and LA areas. Best of luck!
