Ontario Second-Entry Nursing (2017)

World Canada CA Programs

Hey everyone :)

So fall just flew in so I thought what a great time it would be to start my nursing applications lol. It is very early, but I enjoy having this on my mind. I am in my final year at University and am hoping to be a nursing student come next September. I wanted to make a space where we could come together with a common goal: getting accepted. The schools I plan to apply are:

Trent, Toronto, Humber, Western and Queens

Possibly considering RPN programs as well.

Congrats on your acceptance to UOFT! What was your average in your last 10 courses if you don't mind me asking. And when you got your acceptance, did they notify you via email or joined?

Thanks PHealthNurse!! :)

I graduated from Waterloo in Biochemistry with around a 3.3 GPA in the last ten courses.

However I think that UofT heavily weighs the supplemental application when considering applicants. For mine I had about 8 months of lab technician experience and 12 months of research experience, 8 of which were at SickKids. For extra circulars I was involved on campus with the Women's Centre and the Run Club, and I volunteered with a help centre and placed in my age category for a couple of triathlons.

For references I had my program advisor who also taught many of my core biochemistry courses, two of my research supervisors and the volunteer coordinator for the Help Centre.

Hope that helps!

Thank you so much :) Did they send you an email about your acceptance or through the joinid?

@Jamila08

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't receive good news from Mac, hope you hear better news from your other schools or that you definitely keep going for your dream.

In regards to the prerequisites, I couldn't say as I had all of mine finished. I also have not yet sent them my winter marks, but that was part of my conditional offer so I don't think that would have hindered your application. Sorry I wasn't of more help.

Wishing you all the best!

@Mandalynne890

Thank you for you kind words ! :)

Still waiting to hear from Queens ( waitlisted) and UofT ( still no asnwer)

I got an email early today that confirmed that my application was rejected and it was not due to my prerequisites.

Still hopefull !

Good luck Jamila! I hope you get into your top choices :)

And PHealthNurse, sorry for the late reply, work has been super busy :p

I heard in my email first.

While from Mac I saw the response on the Mosaic portal first.

Hello All,

Congratulations to those who have received offers of admission, and best of luck to those still waiting. For those who have received offers of admission to Mac, I wanted to ask if you have received further information as to our immunization requirements, assuming you have accepted your offer of admission. The offer I had received stated that I would receive more information on the requirements once I accepted, but I have yet to receive anything. Thanks for your time and for those attending Mac in the fall, I will see you then.

Vicki said they will send further information in early/mid June. I hope they send it as early as possible so I can make all the proper arrangements by September! See you in the fall!

Hell @ Rhythm0,

Thank you for giving me some updated information. I have been unable to reach Vicki myself, even though I have left messages so I appreciate you passing on the message.

I too hope it is soon as I'm unsure how long processing will be for some requirements (such as police clearance, etc.)

Hello, I hope that your applications are successful :) Would you mind sharing with me your GPA? I am interested in applying to Queen's AST next year, so I am just curious.

Just received my offer to University of Toronto!!! Trying to decide now between McMaster and U of T, oh dear

Did McMaster send out rejection letters already (email or actual mail)?

Congratulations! I think although a difficult decision, there is no wrong decision. You just have to decide what you're looking for in a school, a program and location.

I personally did not apply to U of T because of living costs in Toronto, so there is likely individuals more equipped to answer, and or you likely already know most of the differences between the programs yourself.

I chose McMaster because I think problem-based learning will be an effective way to learn/understand material.

At the end of the day, I wish you the best and I would be interested in knowing what school you decide on. Congratulations again! (:

Congrats Seaschel!!!! What was your average in your last ten credits if you don't mind me asking. And when did they receive your transcript and when did they receive it? I'm still waiting and was just wondering.
