Ontario Second-Entry Nursing (2017)

World Canada CA Programs

Hey everyone :)

So fall just flew in so I thought what a great time it would be to start my nursing applications lol. It is very early, but I enjoy having this on my mind. I am in my final year at University and am hoping to be a nursing student come next September. I wanted to make a space where we could come together with a common goal: getting accepted. The schools I plan to apply are:

Trent, Toronto, Humber, Western and Queens

Possibly considering RPN programs as well.

Anyone here going to Queens for advanced track nursing? If so, did you receive an admissions package from them?

I received my offer of admission long back in Feb but haven't received an admissions package from them outlining the next step.

Does anyone know how McMaster and Western Compare? I am still trying to decide between the two. I read that McMaster does a lot of group work and papers, and I am more of an independent worker and test-taker. Does anyone know if Western also relies heavily on group work? I am so confused as to which one to pick :/

I was accepted to Trent May 19th in the afternoon by email. I have a 83% GPA in the last two years. :)

Still waiting to hear from UofT, I have a 91% in the last year, but it wasn't my "last degree year." Instead I spent a full-time year upgrading my GPA after 5 years of hospital work experience, namely in research.

Hello,

I was accepted into UofT, I was wondering if anyone can tell me about the program? Would it be overwhelming if I worked part time?

Yeah, I haven't seen much activity either lol

I did call the other week and all they said was they are still figuring things out and everyone should hear by the end of June, but they haven't put together the waitlist yet.

I was wondering if anyone has received rejections? Like should I be anticipating a rejection at any moment, or will it only come end of June? :p

Thank you!

Sure, my gpa was 85% and for my supplementary application I volunteer at a social service agency, completed research with a professor regarding victims of violence/trauma, and worked at a nursing home. I hope there's more activity on this forum :) Did you apply to UofT?

I would say don't anticipate rejections just there is still time :)

Hi, would you mind sharing why you would choose York over Mac?

Also, on the York program website it says that RN is not required. Does that mean the program is not specific for training RNs?

I received rejections from York and Mac because I am still getting my prerequisites but at York they say that I can contact them when I complete prerequisites and if there are spaces they can reopen my application, probably same with Mac. Uoft status is not yet reviewed, they say the will contact everyone by June, 30.

Hello!

To anyone who has received an offer from YORK, does it say "Alternative offer" under OUAC. The only difference is that it says: no co-op.

Is this normal?

Anyone else interested in the Humber program??
