Ontario Second-Entry Nursing (2017)

Published

Hey everyone :)

So fall just flew in so I thought what a great time it would be to start my nursing applications lol. It is very early, but I enjoy having this on my mind. I am in my final year at University and am hoping to be a nursing student come next September. I wanted to make a space where we could come together with a common goal: getting accepted. The schools I plan to apply are:

Trent, Toronto, Humber, Western and Queens

Possibly considering RPN programs as well.

Wow! Many congratulations! If you don't mind... could you share average in your last year? I'm still waiting to hear something, and the wait is making me so nervous...

Got accepted to York! I got the email 2 days ago but didn't notice until now. :) I'm ridiculously happy right now, this was my first choice!

Congrats zzyy!

Do you mind sharing your average? Thank you!

Of course! I have around a 3.7-3.8 and I'm still in my undergrad.

Hello everyone,

I've been lurking for quite some time. I have a question for those who applied to U of T. My JoinUofT page still says "Application Received". I've read that some people have a status "To Be Reviewed". Should I be concerned?

Hi everyone!

First off, I just wanted to congratulate everyone who's been accepted so far. And to everyone still waiting, hang in there!!!

I thought I'd share my story here and hopefully it might help someone out! I just got accepted to UofT on Tuesday (it's the only school I applied to). I'm in my last year of undergrad at UTM. I don't have any research experience at all (which I was really worried about but I think they really do look at your application as a whole). I do volunteer in an institution that provides for children suffering from various mental health issues and also at a long term care facility. But I don't have any clinical experience in a hospital setting. In my last two years my GPA was around a 3.7.

I've been lurking on this forum for quite a while and many of you have really amazing and impressive resumes and im going to be honest, I was really intimated and discouraged but that's why I wanted to share my background to maybe ease someone's anxiety. I was very truthful in my supplementary application and told them that I did struggle for the first couple of years of undergrad but I came out of it a stronger, more resilient person. I do have a lot of work experience since I work around 30-40 hours a week, so I focused on the qualities that I have learned and gained from those experiences instead of focusing on what I lack in the research/clinical aspect.

If you guys have any questions please dont hesitate to ask! Id love to help anyone out!

Good luck to everyone embarking on this new journey and hope you guys have a great summer!

Hello Everyone,

Congrats to those that have been accepted, may your journey be full of success.

My applications are still "Under review" for both UWO and UOFT, should I be concerned?

I am in the same boat, don't really know where to go from here

Hey isabeld,

First of all, congratulations on your acceptance!!!!! I am so jealous! I haven't applied yet, but I will for September 2018. Thanks for mentioning your GPA and experience, it's really helpful. I have similar stats to yours. I am in my last year of undergrad at UofT (will be graduating in the spring) and have a lot of experience work in clinics at SickKids and doing research at SickKids and Health Canada. But my GPA is lower than yours which worries me. I don't have all of my marks in yet for this semester, but so far my GPA during my last year (5 FCE) is like 3.6. UofT is one of my top choices for nursing!

I feel my experience is definitely stronger than my GPA. So one question I have is how much room is there on the application to include your experience?

Thanks!!

Hi everyone!

Just wondering if anyone has heard back from McMaster yet? I logged in to their portal today and saw that I have a conditional offer. It says we can only accept offers via OUAC but my OUAC is not showing anything from McMaster.

Congratulations :) That's amazing! Thank you so much for sharing your story! I'm still waiting to hear back from them ! I have been so worried and couldn't get proper sleep as people so far who have got accepted on this forum has a great GPA and tons of research experiences. You really helped me put me in ease. I really appreciate that!

Hoping for the best for everyone! Enjoy your summer :)
