Ontario Second-Entry Nursing (2017)

Published

Hey everyone :)

So fall just flew in so I thought what a great time it would be to start my nursing applications lol. It is very early, but I enjoy having this on my mind. I am in my final year at University and am hoping to be a nursing student come next September. I wanted to make a space where we could come together with a common goal: getting accepted. The schools I plan to apply are:

Trent, Toronto, Humber, Western and Queens

Possibly considering RPN programs as well.

Do you mind sharing your average and what year of your program you are in? You saw on mosaic first?

Yup, I saw on mosaic first -- I didn't receive any emails though. I stayed back for a 5th year at UofT to figure out what I really wanted to do and to bump up my cGPA. I'm waiting on one last mark to be released but my cGPA is at 3.48 right now. My last 2 years averaged 3.74.

For those receiving their acceptances from UofT, were you notified through email? do I need to keep checking join uoft or on OUAC?

I received my offer via email. My Join UofT changed to "Admitted" 3 days later, and my OUAC offer appeared 4 days later.

Thank you :)

For those who got into McMaster did it show on MOSAIC (the portal for their school) mine is not showing up anything even under applications so Im kind of worried. I am applying after finishing my 3rd year (finished all the pre-reqs..got mostly A (3.9) on them except psych and stats which i got a 3.7 on) but my cGPA is like a 9.3 tho dont know what that is on a 4.0 scale but i know it's a B+ my last 2 years are like a 9.6 which is just a high B+ so Im just worried and also im kinda expecting that i may not even get in considering that im only applying after finishing 3rd year while some finished their entire undergrad...so they might be even expecting a lot for applicants like me but I want to know whether your application before getting an acceptance has its status showing up on MOSAIC just so I can assure myself whether or not my application is even being reviewed (regardless of the outcome)

I think a green circle ('pending' status) means that your application is still being reviewed. Do you know what a 9.3 is on a 4.0 scale? Because if your cGPA is high, plus your good pre-req marks you have a good shot. I believe McMaster starts handing out acceptances from late April to June so you should hear back from them soon! Best of luck!

thanks so much I think it's like between 3.4-3.5 it's not that great to be honest and I think McMaster will not base your application using the 4.0 scale i think they might just use their scale which for a lot of people here your average actually gets boosted because i know the 12.0 scale offsets that bias on the 4.0 scale (80 is not really a 3.7 but a 3.6 bias) so GPA from other universities might actually go up because I dont recall anywhere in the process where they convert grades to the 4.0 scale. But that is just me speculating but yeah 9.3 is like closer to 9 which is the standard 3.3 in other universities. But thanks so much...sadly I cant even locate a green circle on MOSAIC so im basically just gonna march up to mac and check to see if they were able to process my application (I didnt go through OUAC since im still in undergrad and a Mac student...i just basically handed in a physical form which is possible been lost in transit in the office) but THANK YOU so much for your help!

I just wanted to say congratulations to everyone who has been accepted! I've received offers from U of T, York and Ryerson (as my backup), but I have accepted U of T's, so it'll open up a space for York's program! Good luck to everyone who's still waiting to hear back!

Just got accepted to McMaster.

Good luck everyone!

dtm5477 do you mind sharing your program year and grades? Thanks!

Hi sure. I just finished my bachelors of science at the university of Toronto.

My overall GPA is 3.68.

Hey, just wondering: western is currently waiting on my final grades and says that we will know by the end of may. All of my other offers expire tomorrow (may 1st) so if I accept someone else does that effect my chance of being accepted to western? I just can't let me other offers expire and just hope I get accepted to western.

any advice would be great!
