Ontario Second-Entry Nursing (2017)

Published

Hey everyone :)

So fall just flew in so I thought what a great time it would be to start my nursing applications lol. It is very early, but I enjoy having this on my mind. I am in my final year at University and am hoping to be a nursing student come next September. I wanted to make a space where we could come together with a common goal: getting accepted. The schools I plan to apply are:

Trent, Toronto, Humber, Western and Queens

Possibly considering RPN programs as well.

I just checked MyFile for York and my status changed to Admitted! So for anyone still waiting it looks like they're sending out acceptances and you should check :)

Hey guys! I'm new here. I did my undergrad from UTM and just got accepted to UofT and humber and i've been debating which one to accept (as may 1st is the deadline for humber). I know UofT is really intense (especially since I've done my undergrad there) but it is a shorter program than humber's nursing. Do you guys have any advice?

I would recommend U of T. It may be harder but you'll come out better prepared and that's extremely important as a nurse. Their NCLEX pass rates for 1st time takers are consistently at 100% or hovering very close to there. As a school with more funding, you'll also have access to more resources and better clinical partnerships. The cohort is smaller as well, which makes it easier to find friends and learn with a smaller educator to student ratio. And of course, finishing earlier has its own financial and mental advantages too.

Thank you for your advice! I have another question. I heard for humber you have to get 75% in every course otherwise you fail the year. Would you happen to know if there's anything like that for UofT?

Found a Facebook Group for Trent!

look for Trent University - Compressed Nursing 2017-2019

Is the group still up? I can't find it

Okay thanks! Now just waiting for it to be updated. :) My offer lasts till May 5th so want to accept.

For anyone that has been accepted to Western recently, has your OUAC been updated yet with the offer?

Question about transcripts- does OUAC wait until all our current semester marks are submitted to send it? Am I supposed to use the option 'End of Term-Winter' ?

Update: My OUAC was just updated to show the offer. :)

My OUAC was updated in the last hour or two with an offer from western. I received it on the online portal first in the mid afternoon yesterday, then an email later that evening telling me to check the portal for an update and letter.

Same. Did you receive any scholarship information?

They let me know there's some $5000 scholarship and I'll receive further info later if I qualify. Also, there's one for those interested in pediatrics for the same amount.
