Hi Everyone!
This is super early to talk about applying to nursing school for 2016, but it's always better to be well-prepared! Let's share some thoughts and help each other out!
I am re-applying to nursing schools as I did not get in last year, and planning to enroll to more courses for pre-reqs and to increase my GPA (I graduated with a B.A.)hopefully this year will be much better and with luck!!!!
I have a few universities in mind to apply -
Should I apply to more? Which one should I apply? I am super eager to enter the program and I failed once, failing twice is not allowed!
Feel Free to give me suggestions or ask questions! Here is a link I found online listing most of the second entry nursing programs.
Best wishes to everyone! Good Luck!

WOW! This is really amazing help. Thank you so much. Another question, if you have time, I'm fairly interested in research opportunities and was wondering if you have access to principal investigators are Trent who are willing or able to take on research students for the summer etc. I know we won't have much time, but it's something I would definitely want to look into. Also - side note, what is rent like in Peterborough? I'd like to live alone ideally in a place in good condition/newly renovated. Distance to campus isn't too much of a problem because I'll likely have a car. Thanks for your help!
I'm glad I could help! Yes there are several nursing professors at Trent who have a background in research and they said they're always looking for students to go into nursing research! I'm not too familiar with the whole process but one of my courses is in nursing research and the profs said that instead of doing practical work in the final pre-consolidation/ consolidation semesters you can write a thesis instead and can start organizing that in your first year with the professor who would supervise you. In terms of other research opportunities there is definitely the option to get involved with the projects professors are working on as well (or at least that was the case this year and I'd imagine it would be the same next year).
For rent, Peterborough is kind of strange since the school is in the north end and there aren't too many options for housing nearby but most students live in the downtown area or even the south end and rent ranges from 400-550 (and some of my friends who drive managed to find places in the 300s). Not sure if you are familiar with Peterborough but its about a 10-15 minute drive from the downtown area to campus!
Hey everyone,
I applied to the second-entry BScN programs at Mac, Western, Queens and York. My first choice is Mac.
After the Feb 1st deadline, Queens got back to me in a weeks time telling me I didn't get in. When I called for feedback on my application, I found out they made a mistake with my application (super annoying) and have found out that I HAVE gotten in!
I wrote the CASPer test on Feb 22nd for Mac and York, so I can't imagine I will hear from those schools anytime soon.
I heard last week that I got into Western.
I have a BSc in Bio-Med from uGuelph. My cGPA is 77.4. I also took a year of FT studies at uOttawa last year and have a cGPA (for 9 courses) of 3.98/4.0 (both schools obviously have different grading systems, just to make life more difficult!)
I have a friend in the Western program who said that the curriculum is changing and they have been removing some important placements (child and family health & mental health) from their program. Therefore, the curriculum posted online is NOT the one that the current students are following and it will not be the one that will be followed Sept 2016. Some of their courses are also taught online.
So, this may change some peoples mind about heading to Western…
My plan is to call the schools I get into and find out if their posted curriculum will be changing before Sept 2016.
Anywho, good luck to all applicant's!
Hey guys ! so I have just recently found out about this page can someone please help me to see where I stand ! here is my lil story:
I am graduating from york with a CGPA of 6.50 on a 9 scale and (B) so far Ive gotten an A in all my last 30 credits but I am finishing 3 of my last credits, I am not sure what that is on a 4.0 scale, but i have applied only to york because I do not have the chem pre req that most univ need, has anyone gotten accepted to york ? does anybody know what was the cut off? and I did my Casper test already not sure how much that is weighted but yea reallly nervous, do not know how competitive this year is going to be but congrats to everyone who already got in.
Thanks for answering questions! :) I got accepted by Trent and I'm excited but I have a few of my own if you don't mind answering. How is the public transportation in Trent? I'm not going to be able to bring a car with me, so I was hoping I would be able to get a place closeby and take the bus if need be.
Also how are the clinical placements? I want to be able to choose which areas (ex surgery, radiology, oncology) I would like to be in as to make it easier for me to get a job as a nurse in those locations. How are your job prospects too? DO you think Trent prepared you well?

I applied to many schools, and so far I heard back from Ryerson and Trent and got accepted to both. But now that I actually have to put some effort into deciding, I was wondering what the pros and cons are for each school, and their programs. It's tricky because Ryerson is 4 years and Trent is 2 years, but it looks like Ryerson is more emerged in nursing with opportunities since it's in downtown.

I have an 87 which I believe is equivalent to a 3.9 on the 4.0 scale
