Hey everyone!
I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!
My choices are:
1. UofT
2. McMaster
3. Nipissing SPP
I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.
I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:
1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine. This satisfies all 3 unis
2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto. I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.
I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.
It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.
To give a bit of background and hope to everyone, I applied last year too while I was finishing up my final year and got rejected (not even waitlisted) and was super bummed the entire Summer! I knew the reason was because of my personal statement, I completely rushed it, did not even make my PS personal or connect it with important nursing values, and vaguely listed my EC's although I had pretty good ones. I was going through serious mental damage and homesickness during my first year of university, and my GPA is super low in first and second year, hence my cGPA is around a 3.35, but I was able to pull my final year GPA to a 4.0. I even had a few 50s in my first year and repeated my anatomy course pre-req!! Grades are not everything! They will seriously look at your app holistically! There is still a long way to go for offers as they give offers until the end of June so do not lose hope! I am rooting for all of you! You will all make amazing nurses <3.

I had a 4.0 for final year, but had a B- in anatomy and stats! Also my cgpa is only ~3.35! For EC's I did co-op at a hospital in highschool and also volunteered at that hospital for 4 years, I volunteered for a HELP program at another hospital, was a financial director for a school club that promotes arthritis awareness, research volunteer for a diabetes study, completed a research practicum under a professor and presented my meta-analysis at a research conference, volunteered with the Red Cross to give companionship to seniors during covid, was a top ten finalist for a pathophys contest, involved with a temple organization by performing the violin annually for seniors, was a residence don, worked as a medical assistant and covid screener, and was a mentor for international students during my undergrad! Remember it doesn't matter how many EC's you did or what you did on the PS, but how you can transfer the skills you gained in those EC's into a nursing profession. Good luck ❤️
