Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hey everyone!

I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!

My choices are:

1. UofT

2. McMaster

3. Nipissing SPP

I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.

I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:

1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine.  This satisfies all 3 unis

2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto.  I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.

I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.

It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

Thank you! ? Mcmaster is my top choice but they don't send out any offers until April/May

3.7/4.0. It's not very high but I think my PSE was what got me in so early!

Congratulations! ? I also applied to McMaster, and also to Western. I was wondering why is McMaster your top choice?

Because I go there aha (currently 2nd year) and all my friends are there so it's just easier to stay at Mac!

wow that is amazing and still a really good GPA! My last 2 years is 3.66 so I am a bit worried ?

I'm sure you'll get in! They send out the majority of their offers later on (I believe in April)!

Hi everyone! Just received a conditional offer to Queen's ?

Congratulations!! And I'm hoping to get into Mac as well since I go here too! If you don't mind me asking, who did you use as your verifier for your PSE? I'm struggling to find a Prof since like everything I've written in the past was marked by TA's, so not too sure on who could verify that my PSE is written by me.

Thank you! I got special permission to take Hthsci 1h06 (human anatomy for nursing students) and so I got my TA from that class to be my verifier! Since we had biweekly presentations in tutorial, I got to know my TA pretty well.

Specializes in Radiology.

This PSE is for Queens right, and not McMaster?  (Now I’m paranoid I missed something on my Mac app)

I was wondering if you guys know which schools have the best financial aid (I couldn't really find a lot about it on their websites, specifically UWO and McMaster)

I've applied to UofT, McMaster, and Nipissing. Of the three, I think UofT has most options. Nipissing said that since it's a second degree program, there's no scholarship available specific for it. Bursaries, etc are available but for the whole student body. Not sure about Mac

Oh no not McMaster! Mac only has CASPer as the supplementary ?

That perfect, especially since it was a course from the Nursing department. I didn't know it was okay to have TA's as the verifier, but it makes sense, I was just over thinking haha. I'll ask my TA from last term for sustain 1S03 since we did a lot of reflection writing and tutorial discussions in that class. Thanks for replying!! ?

Queens is so good for sending out acceptances early. It really helps give an early choice to people.

Does anyone have the timelines of when the other Universities start accepting?

Sorry everyone! I didn't mean to say that a 3.7 GPA was bad/low in any way or that anything below that isn't good enough. I'm just quite hard on myself and was aiming to apply with a 3.8! Admissions aren't purely based on grades anyways ?

How did you convert Mac's 12 GPA scale to the 4.0 scale? I was looking online and someone said you convert all your grades and then avg it, but some also say to just convert your avg straight to the 4.0 scale using the conversion chart. I did both ways and calculated a diff avg

I graduated from Mac! I used this website to convert it to the 4.0 scale. I put my individual letter grades! Hope this helps, it is actually the UofT GPA converter and I used it to report my final year GPA for the UofT app.
