Hey everyone!
I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!
My choices are:
1. UofT
2. McMaster
3. Nipissing SPP
I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.
I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:
1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine. This satisfies all 3 unis
2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto. I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.
I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.
It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.
I also just got rejected from Mac. Is anyone else super shocked at how competitive these programs are?
I feel really lucky that I somehow managed to get into Trent. Wasn't even going to apply because it's 28 months long.. But now I'm super grateful that I did! I feel for everyone without acceptances yet. It's really tough hang in there! There's still time left and there's always next year. I believe in all of you!

Yes! I feel lied to! LOL, I am so confused about how these arbitrary cut offs are made and listed on the program website to get in and how that is not reflective at all on the grades you need to actually gain acceptance into the program. As am someone with a plethora of experience and mediocre grades and am finding this process so challenging and discouraging. I don't want to give up - but it is really hard to keep having hope after getting rejected.
Can I ask what your GPA was for Trent? I didn't apply there but should spread out my applications to be more diverse for next year.
I received an email from Mac at 3am:
• Competition has been very keen for a limited number of places in the program. Based on a composite of your supplementary application assessment and academic achievements, we are not able to offer you admission to the program
I wonder how high the GPA is for those accepted. I'll probably send an email asking for some details about my application.

My cGPA is a 3.7, and I pretty much maintained that GPA all four years. The waiting is really hard, but definitely don't give up if Nursing is what you really want to do!
If you're not lucky this year, take the extra year to complete every single pre-req for every 2-year program, then apply to ALL of them. I have a friend who got into Nipissing and U of T, but got rejected from Trent. Meanwhile I got into Trent, got waitlisted at Nipissing and still nothing from U of T. You never know how schools make their decisions and just because you don't get into one school doesn't mean you won't get in somewhere else. Fingers crossed for you!

Yeah I got the same email from them. They just don't have the seats in the program for the number of people that applied. Apparently over 1000 people applied for 85 seats, so plenty of people who were more than qualified for the program likely got rejected, which is a shame. They'll likely have to increase the capacity of the program to keep up with the demand for nurses in the future. Really frustrating, especially to wait all of this time for a big fat R for A LOT of people. The application process overall with McMaster wasn't the greatest, and I'm super frustrated because I took an statistics course this past semester just to even be qualified for McMaster. So I'm majorly salty about that, but whatever. I'm sure there are many in a similar situation.

It's too competitive for what they list on the admissions websites. They really need to update their program information because I think a lot of people are blindsided by how competitive these programs actually are now.

I heard of someone with a 3.9 being rejected from Mac this application cycle, which is insane. I think part of the frustration with McMaster applications is that we don't REALLY know how we stand for applications because of how we're kept in the dark regarding our CASPer scores.
