Hey everyone!
I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!
My choices are:
1. UofT
2. McMaster
3. Nipissing SPP
I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.
I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:
1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine. This satisfies all 3 unis
2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto. I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.
I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.
It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.
Well I hope this gave y'all a bit of tea and drama and every single entertainment you needed to relieve your anxious minds. I have no interest in being the drama queen here but if you have other questions relating to student life at uoft, feel free to ask. I'll also use this platform to uplift my colleagues doing their inspogram - @thatnursingstudent and @thenursingseries

Do you think a 3.8 is doable?

my friend, 3.8 might not be doable *insert the meme with dog saying its okay with burning house*
+ ... incase this was a serious inquiry: admission 3.8 - yes assuming that your ref/statements are strong. 3.8 average as nursing students - yes its doable just don't expect much life

Will the unofficial transcript say the grade? Or is it like the one we submitted in Feb, that just says in-progress?
Thanks! And all the best! I'm a bit worried myself for my grade. I hope I hear from UofT before my finals that way Ill have more time to study. I have an offer from Nipissing now and the deadline is end of June.
Hey guys,
Does anyone know if the order in which UofT accepts its applicants correlate with the applicants' statistics at all, such as GPA (highest first), the quality of the whole application, or how early they applied? Or do they just go through batches of applications every week? Thanks!!

I believe they rank all applicants, and the first batch of offers goes to the highest ranked applicants. Then they go down the list every Friday.

Ahh that's pretty cool, thank you! Do you know if this semester's marks will change anything for people who have not yet heard back?

I contacted the admissions committee a few weeks ago regarding the admissions process. They told me they review applicants with the highest final year GPA and then work their way down. They also said when they review applicants with the highest GPA, they look at their application holistically (aside from just having a high GPA, they look at EC’s, references, statement). They do consider your Fall 2020 and Winter 2021 grades!

you are bringing up old stats my friend. secondly, without actually knowing the nursing theories (that we don't even call nursing theories anymore...) how can you say that there are grey areas? just wondering.
GPA wise, I mean, I wonder if you are telling me to bring out the actual printed data when I talk to the real person here in the program. obviously not 170 of are sharing all their stats, but you can't just argue that 2016 data still stands strong in 2020 to 2022. values change, therefore standards change. just letting you know.
also - subjectivity part. my apologies if I didn't make it clear - my priorities are studying not giving a seminar on this forum. but. to clarify - they have rubrics that they grade the students with, and their critiques are based on their years of experience as clinicians. again, you can perhaps relate more once you actually become a nursing student here. there is no such thing as, "this student wrote better than B in the context of nursing diag. imma give 80 for this student and 75 students" because of context we write doesn't really include subjective opinions. our marking system doesn't work that way. Feel free to discuss this point again once you get in and see the marking structure.
+ your main point previously was that "students are getting subjective grades against another student" and this was the point I tried to contradict mostly. that long blurb I wrote - I'm not saying there is absolutely 0 subjectivity. there are. but. that subjectivity cannot be easily disputed because of the nature of the profession and the knowledge we learn. I mean, if you keep going to say the "internal policies", you do you.
