Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2020

Updated:   Published

Hey, I used to creep these forums for the past few years and they helped affirm my decision to apply to nursing school for Fall 2020. I didn't see one started for next year so I thought, why not start one?

I graduated a while back so I'm a bit older, but my top three choices are:

1. Queen's

2. McMaster

3. York

4. Humber-UNB

Hey! They basically just offered me into their honors bachelors of science program, and they said to try applying again for nursing in a year. My grades were absolute *** my first two years so it totally made sense that they didn't accept me LOL so I just took the year to take easyish courses and get my grades up since I already completed all of the prerequisites at my last university and Trent accepted all of the credits I already had. I hope we get in! From what I've heard it's a lot easier as an internal applicant ?

Thanks for getting back to me! This is really helpful information! I’m just anxious because I know offers have already gone out, hopefully we hear back soon☺️

Hello everyone! Hope you are all well and staying safe. CONGRATS to everyone on their acceptances! I saw a few posts above about those still waiting for a response. I am also still waiting for a response from the only uni I applied to (York). It's getting tough to wait since now it's already may and I'm starting to lose hope that I will get in this year unfortunately. Anyone heard from york recently?

Hey, don't lose hope at all. I was getting worried myself that I haven't heard anything from York. But luckily, I got accepted last week. I'm sure you will hear great news. Just hang in there. I will see you in September? You got this!

Congratss on your acceptance!! So so exciting. Thank you so much for the kind words! ❤️ Made me feel encouraged. Hopefully I hear back soon!

Just a heads up, York had a security breech over the weekend and myfile isn’t up right now as they try to fix things. Don’t know if that will delay acceptances but it would mean you wouldn’t be able to get into their system until things are fixed!
Good luck with your application! I would love to be classmates in the fall!

I got into McMaster. So happy. Thanks to everyone for their support. This is a super nice community. To everyone still waiting be strong. Offers are still coming through. My cummulative GPA was 3.6.

I'm also in the same boat regarding housing for Hamilton.

Specializes in RN.

Hi everyone,

I just received an offer from Trent through the myTrent portal! I will be declining this so a space will be open for someone ?

@worriedsick

Congratulations to both of you! This is so exciting. Hamilton is not perfect, but it's charming in many ways, and I hope you'll have many great memories!

I graduated from McMaster last year. Lived in two houses close to the campus. We had to move from our first house because our landlord & his contractor were very unresponsive, so we had a lot of issues (some very bad).

So, in general, if you can, speak to previous tenants and ask them how responsive the landlords/property managers are, especially if you're thinking of living close to campus. We had a much better experience with our second house. Whenever we had an issue, it was solved quickly.

Neighbourhoods close to campus are relatively the same in terms of safety, costs, and sizes. Most of these house undergrads (usually 5+ people/home) but these may be cheaper than houses with grads or mature students.

If you're thinking of living a little bit further away from campus (and do not have a car), it's usually not an issue of they are close to streets that the 51, 5, and 1 busses run through. You'd probably find cheaper and nicer homes with less housemates. And you'd be more compelled to go out and explore (once it's safe, you know, because of the pandemic)!

Wish I could give you more help, but I'm sure you'll find more info online & on the McMaster Housing facebook group!

I would suggest looking/posting on the McMaster student housing board on facebook, or checking Mac's official site here!

Thanks for this! Was really worried about how to find off-campus housing in McMaster. Is there a facebook group for McMaster accelerated nursing?
