Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2020

Updated:   Published

Hey, I used to creep these forums for the past few years and they helped affirm my decision to apply to nursing school for Fall 2020. I didn't see one started for next year so I thought, why not start one?

I graduated a while back so I'm a bit older, but my top three choices are:

1. Queen's

2. McMaster

3. York

4. Humber-UNB

For those that received acceptances already, did it update on OUAC at the same time as the uni website? I'm trying to decide if I keep checking OUAC or the individual Unis I applied to.

I‘ve noticed that the school’s website updated first and then OUAC’s the day after!

It appears I overestimated myself. I only applied to u of t and my last 5.00 is about 3.48. I can only wish myself good luck ...?

I feel you OMG, mines is a 3.47 currently without my Winter grades. I hope my Winter grades can be updated on my transcript at least by next Friday so I can send u of t my updated transcript, which would give me a higher GPA for my last 5.0 credits. I really wished I applied to other schools. At the time I applied, I was leaning more towards respiratory therapy than nursing.

But don't lose hope, I heard people with 70% averages got in so u of t really takes your supplementary application and references into account. So you still have a chance ?

Did you get into respiratory therapy?

No I have not, and not too keen on it anymore because they are not doing the MMI anymore and are looking at just cGPA and my cGPA is not too high ?

Your cGPA is too high for respiratory therapy?

I thought respiratory therapy is not competitive. What is their cGPA requirement?

No like my cGPA is not the best. I was more confident in my extra-curriculars, but since they took out the MMI which is a big component when they decide who to give admission offers, I lost all my hope. Also, I did more research and think I would be more interested in nursing since there are potentials to advance the career through a masters and phD compared to respiratory therapy.

But I think nursing is more competitive than respiratory therapy?

yeah GPA wise and the supplementary, but since u of t nursing only takes the GPA for the last 5.0 credits, I was more hopeful because I worked much harder this year and my GPA for last 5.0 credits should be around a 3.98 once I get my final grades of this Winter semester in.

Specializes in Biomedical Sciences/Psychology.

LOL looks like I ain't gonna make the cut this year by the looks of people commenting on their cGPAs. Mine is about 3.18 for 5 FCEs if they calculate it in my favour. But I am hoping for the best. I accepted an offer from Seneca just in case I don't get into Mc, Trent, U of T, and Windsor.

Don't worry, do not give up yet, but CONGRATS on your acceptance to Seneca!
