Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2019

Hello Everyone,

I am currently a third year York University student hoping to apply for second entry nursing at York

only next year (yes I am going through the strike).

Since applications open in November, I thought it would be best to get this forum started. I am hoping to get more insight into the program and I hope current and past nursing students would share their views on the program and how job searching went. Also, what nursing specialties do most York nursing graduates enter as I am hoping to get into public health. Furthermore, share your insights on Humber, McMaster, U of T, Trent, Queens, Western, Ottawa and Nippissing. (I think that is all) and don't forget to include your acceptance GPAs.

To everyone waiting for UofT, I'm currently in the program and they recently went through everyone with conditions, so spots should be opening up and you should be notified very soon as they remove people that weren't able to complete their conditions or withdrew their positions. Don't lose hope, you guys got this!

heyy! for those of you guys who are still waiting to hear back from u of t, if you have any questions about synergy, student preparedness permit or questions about u of t, msg me! I would love to help !! don't want you guys to be too anxious ? i am entering first year though so I can't answer too many questions about the program.

Hi guys!

I'm still in the middle of completing my requirements for UFT's waitlist (I received the waitlist email very late as originally it never went through :()

For the future, don't use your school email for applications (make a new one, I have like 3 different emails but for some reason used an institution email....)

Anyways, I have a few questions

can someone explain how synergy works? is it the Old south FHO (Health Myself), because I received an email for that. But, I don't see anything that says synergy!

Also, there is a total of 7 things to upload only? 1.Police record check 2.immunization forms 3.CPR 4. police record check consent form 5. workplace safety form 6. HSPnet form 7. JPEG pic

Can I take the pic (shoulder up) at home or actually need to go to a Shoppers and get it professionally done?

Also, has anyone experienced this before/ what are the chances of them extending ur deadline if you have proof you never received the original e-mail (and called like 6x to ask about ur status). Would they even care since I'm waitlisted... and many others waiting on a spot

Hoping I can make the deadline, if not sticking to my first offer!

Has anyone heard back from Western's waitlist? I want to call and ask but can they even tell me anything?

I believe that is for the 2017 admission intake...I believe ours would be class of 2021, however I do not see a group?

Sorry, it should be "York University Second Entry Nursing - Incoming class of 2019"

I'm in it! But it did take awhile for the admins to accept me into the group

Hi everyone,

just wondering if I can get some input from you guys. So I got accepted into Yorks Second entry program. I met all the conditions except for one. I was required to take a certain course and obtain a grade of B or higher. I took the course this summer, but I recieved a D. I've already picked all my courses, obtained my ID, and etc. Do u guys think York will take away my acceptance, due to the one mark I recieved. I'm so scared!

Hey! I’m sure you’re feeling super stressed however, my best bet would be to call the admissions office and ask to speak to somebody. Explain your situation and hopefully they are able to wave something. I’m not sure if they have a waiting list of some sort?? What was the course you were taking? Was it anatomy/physiology or?

Hey thanks, I really appreciate your input. Its microbiology. I'm so scared to call admissions.

Hey! I recommend you joining the UofT nursing facebook group as you can get all your questions answered and read other's questions and answers too since the whole check is complex.

In addition to the things you need uploaded, you need to complete the Synergy consent form which is found on Synergy! Other than that, all seems correct. And the picture you can take it yourself like a passport photo. However I heard they don't even use that photo but your TCard photo instead. The August 15 deadline seems pretty strict but your circumstance is different, perhaps emailing [email protected] and ask because it is unfair you were sent the email late.

The people who control the ask.nursing email are very nice and I think they'd be more than happy to give you answers.
