Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2019

World Canada CA Programs

Updated:   Published

Hello Everyone,

I am currently a third year York University student hoping to apply for second entry nursing at York

only next year (yes I am going through the strike).

Since applications open in November, I thought it would be best to get this forum started. I am hoping to get more insight into the program and I hope current and past nursing students would share their views on the program and how job searching went. Also, what nursing specialties do most York nursing graduates enter as I am hoping to get into public health. Furthermore, share your insights on Humber, McMaster, U of T, Trent, Queens, Western, Ottawa and Nippissing. (I think that is all) and don't forget to include your acceptance GPAs.

Okay great so they’ll just receive it automatically then! And just double checking for the FINAL transcripts (so not the ones they used for our application), they’ll only look at cr/ncr marks if we’re taking LESS than 4.0 credits for the entire school year (this year) including this semester right? ?

yes (based on what the registrar lady told me) if you're taking 4.0CR or fewer, CR/NCR will be included in the overall grade calculation

if anyone needs clarification I suggest calling the registrar lady because I don't want to give out misleading information but I did confirm with her (I kept repeating it back to her like really really really confirm confirm confirm screams)

I saw one on facebook but was too intimidated to join because the only two people in the group are the admins!!

What’s the group called? This is a dumb question but I can’t seem to find any groups ?

Thank you so much!!!

Hi guys,

A very big congratulations to everybody here who is getting into their choice schools, and hope everyone waiting achieves the same!

I am reading all this wonderful information being presented for Toronto which is very, very helpful. I am debating between the Queen's AST program and the Toronto program. Would anyone have any kind of information on the Queen's program? I do like the very small class sizes but I know next to nothing about the campus, academic life or program.

If anyone can give any insight I would very much appreciate it!

I'm completing a full year course in anatomy right now as well as other applicants. But you don't need a course in anatomy if you have 1.0 credits in physiology.

Thanks! I’m completing BIOL 235 (anatomy and physiology); so just wondering if I was going to be at a disadvantage if I didn’t do a half course in anatomy

I believe you should be fine as long as you complete 1.0 physio or 0.5 physio + 0.5 anatomy

Has anyone received an acceptance from Western lately? It's been so long since they've sent any out.

Hey hikimchi, I can't seem to find the group on Facebook, is it perhaps on a private setting? Either way, could you post the link please!

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Please do not post Facebook links. You can name Facebook pages but no link

Try looking under "groups", not pages

Hi @pawwlla! I'm not entirely sure what you mean by courses to study before the first day of classes. Do you mean different summer courses or just studying the nursing courses before class starts? Either way, I don't think you need to prepare too much as the courses will cover everything you need to know ? The first three courses you'll take will be a course that covers assessment skills, therapeutic skills (wound care, injections, etc) and relational work, a course that covers the theories and profession of nursing and either a geriatric care or maternal/newborn care course. You can research some of that in advance if you want but I don't think there's too much preparation required!

Sorry if that was unhelpful and let me know if I misunderstood your question lol

great! thanks @danaryn ?
