I am currently a third year York University student hoping to apply for second entry nursing at York
only next year (yes I am going through the strike).
Since applications open in November, I thought it would be best to get this forum started. I am hoping to get more insight into the program and I hope current and past nursing students would share their views on the program and how job searching went. Also, what nursing specialties do most York nursing graduates enter as I am hoping to get into public health. Furthermore, share your insights on Humber, McMaster, U of T, Trent, Queens, Western, Ottawa and Nippissing. (I think that is all) and don't forget to include your acceptance GPAs.
Everyone’s out here getting their acceptances it’s making me so nervous!!! Ugh I wonder when the rest of us will hear from them!! I wish they would send out rejections right away so that we know early on ??? I must’ve checked my email at LEAST 100 times since morning today ?

I am in the same position. I keep checking my emails while studying for a final that's TOMORROW. Oh my god! I literally can't lol. But if it makes you feel any better, none of my friends who applied have heard back yet either (like 3-4 of them). Let's just keep our fingers crossed for now.

Hi guys, I'm asking about the CR/NCR grades because I asked if it's included in the GPA calculation, they said no but "we really don’t expect applicants to CR/NCR courses in the final year of the degree" which makes me nervous that CR/NCR would jeopardize admissions- which I believe they shouldn't.
I just tried calling admissions, someone keeps picking up but they can't hear me and I keep hearing shuffling papers. I just emailed them again so hoping that they give me a clear answer I'll share. (or if you guys call and get a response)

Oof. That's a loaded answer. I don't think CR/NCR would negatively affect your application unless you just barely passed (Got a 50-60%).
Unfortunately I can't try calling for you cause I'm sitting at the library I hope you can find out!!
EDIT: I just realized you said you were already accepted! It's not an issue then. Even for prerequisites, other students said they only needed to maintain 60% as a condition of the acceptance.

Idk if they use it to calculate final GPA. They probably don't factor it in your average because they can't see the grades of students taking CR/NCR classes from other universities so it would be weird if they did.
My guess would be that they evaluate your application just like any other, but they double-check that you didn't completely tank the course you CR/NCR'd? Not sure.

Yeah I emailed them a while back and they specifically said they DO NOT count credit/no credit courses in the GPA calculations so I don’t think they can see them. But, you got in right? So either way that would mean they already assessed your grades and transcripts and they were pleased with that they saw! So don’t worry!!! They wouldn’t have given you an admission if it was a problem!!!! ??

That’s weird because admissions told me they don’t count them, they don’t even look at them ?
