Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2018

Published

I'm applying to the second entry nursing program in February 2018 for Fall 2018 admission. I'm applying to York, Humber, Trent, Nipissing and potentially Western. I'll be applying with a BA in psych. This is probably super premature, but I wanted some reassurance from fellow applicants. I also wanted to know if anyone, past or previous applicants, know the weighting of Additional Information forms and how they're considered during the application process? I was diagnosed with ADHD during my second year of university, after being misdiagnosed two previous times, and it's certainly had an impact on my grades. My GPA is going to be something like 6.7 on a 9.0 scale. And this really has me worried. Has anyone else had any experiences with Add. Forms?

Good luck to all!

Hey guys!

I got my offer of admission for the Humber/UNB Second Entry program yesterday!

It's a conditional offer that requires that I finish my degree with a 3.0 and accept the offer by May 1st.

I'm very happy, but Humber isn't my first choice. I was wondering, if by May 1st I haven't heard back from my other applications, can I accept Humber then change my mind if I hear back from another school? I'm not sure how this works..

Any insight is appreciated, thanks!

I had the same issue with queens, they told me to just accept the offer now and at any point until September you can drop the offer on OUAC and accept another, I'm sure it's the same for all schools

Thank you! Humber application is through Ontario Colleges but I think it should be fine if I accept then switch at some point later on!

I was wondering if anyone knew when other schools would be sending out decisions (York, UofT, and Western)

If anyone also knows any pros and cons of the programs that would be so helpful! I can't seem to find much info comparing second entry nursing programs.

I have heard late April for Western compressed, no idea on the other ones. It's hard to find info unfortunately

I called Western and the lady told me that the bulk of acceptances go out at the end of May when final grades have been received

They have started sending out some acceptances now as well!

From personal experience, Western sends out its first admissions in roughly the 3rd week of April. Goodluck!

Hey! Do you know what GPA they started offering acceptances too?

Hi everyone,

I am finishing up my degree in kinesiology at Western University. I applied to: UBC, UofT, UWO, and Trent.

I received an e-mail from UBC stating that my anatomy credit wasn't deemed my anatomy credit as an acceptable pre-req, and recommended I challenge a credit at Athabasca. Does anyone have experiencing doing this? Or in a similar situation? I really want to go to UBC, but really don't want to spend $714 on another course.

Hi!

I experienced something very similar with McMaster University and my psychology credit. I received an e-mail saying that my psychology credit was not acceptable. I sent an e-mail asking why and for them to provide an explanation as to why it wasn't acceptable because there was absolutely no reason for it to be rejected. The administration office e-mailed me back asking me to send my syllabus again and they would have the professor look over the syllabus to double check it. A day later I received an email letting me know my credit was accepted. So maybe e-mail the university back and ask them to double-check because they can make mistakes!

Goodluck!

I don't remember exactly what I had in my 10 most recently completed courses, but it was in the high 80's, creeping up on 90%.

I received mine from Western for the compressed time frame program at 3.91 for my last 10 courses (I am currently at McMaster).
