UT Health Pacesetter Summer 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Was waiting for someone else to make this thread, but I'm too anxious!

I am applying for the Summer 2019 application cycle at UT Health Science in Houston.

Stats:

HESI Overall: 92.4

Nursing Pre-req GPA: 3.88

Science Pre-req GPA: 4.0

Cumulative GPA: 3.41

My science Pre-req is excluding Chemistry. I'll be taking that in the Spring along with a few last minute pre-reqs. I have 2 F's in random classes on my transcript from a few year ago when I lost my mode of transportation. Unfortunately that's bringing my cumulative GPA down. Still feel like I have a shot though, so I am applying!

I'll also be applying for UTMB Fall 2019, Lone Star Fall 2019, and reapplying to UT Health Fall 2019 (if need be).

I think your scores are competitive tbh especially with your GPA! Any tips for those of us who haven't taken it yet? Mine is scheduled for 12/22 and I am nervous!

I would recommend purchasing a review book to prepare! I didn't purchase it myself, but my friend let me borrow her review book, which was from Elsevier, and also two other review books specific to the HESI. I'm personally pretty good at math, so I skimmed that section when reviewing, but the math only went up to about a 7th grade level--pretty easy! I heavily studied the grammar section, because I haven't taken an english course in years, and that helped tremendously. As for the vocab, I'm not really sure how one would study for that besides going over the words in the review books, although, I will say that I thought the vocab sections in the books were more difficult than the test itself. I'm currently in pathophysiology, and I've taken A&P 1 and 2, so I'm pretty familiar with A&P. If you're not, though, giving yourself a lot of time to study this section with the books would help! Obviously I thought the reading section was really hard, but I also didn't study this at all, because of self-confidence, I suppose haha. All in all, just take your time, and don't stress out about it. I finished the test with an hour and a half still remaining, so you definitely have enough time to not rush through it. Hope this helped at all :)

Does any know how long it takes for HESI scores to be uploaded onto MyUTH. I took my Exam October 26th and it has yet to be added into my account.

They're supposed to send them to UT at the end of the month, so they should have been sent 10/31. I would reach out to Elsevier to see if they did their part and sent them. If they did, i would then follow up with admissions just to do a check in!

Wondering this too. I took my HESI back in March and had them transferred about 2 weeks ago. Got a confirmation email saying they had been sent. Should I call to confirm they got them? Does it update automatically on my application?

Hey everyone! I'm applying for Summer 2019 and have sent in my app, just waiting on my final grades to be posted in December. I will have STATS and Sociology left to take for Spring.

My HESI Scores are

Reading: 92

Math: 78

Vocab: 90

Grammar:94

A&P: 92

89.2 overall

Science GPA: 3.1

Pre-reqs: 3.5

Very nervous about my GPA's but hoping for the best. Good luck to everyone!

I called student affairs. One lady told me she was looking at my scores and she was going to upload them and it would take 1 to 3 business days. I checked and it still wasn't there. I called again and another lady told me they upload at the end of each month so I waited until December 1st. Still nothing! I called AGAIN and someone told me they didn't even HAVE MY SCORES -.- ..... finally I called the registrars office and they uploaded it. Long story short, don't call student affairs lol.

Don't be so nervous! The way I see it is you did your best, and your GPA shouldn't be the only reflection of how well you can do in this program! They can't see that you got a B or a C because you were balancing school and a full time job, kids etc! I know they only look at paper unfortunately, but I have faith that if its meant to be it will be regardless of GPA!

Do we complete our application first? I noticed it asked for my HESI score and I haven't taken it yet. So am I allowed to bypass that and add it later. Or I can't finish my application until I have everything? I take my HESI on the 20th and I read that scores are added to the application by the end of the month. Is this enough time if the it all due January 1st?

You can complete the application without scores, as long as you have them sent in my January 15. Everything is due January 15, not the 1st :) You can do the application now or wait till you take the test, either should be fine.

Hey yall! So it looks like I'm going to end up with a C in my AP1 class :( So if I can get an A in AP2, Chem and Micro I would have a 3.5 overall for science. I don't have time to retake AP 1 before the application deadlines for Summer 2019 or Fall 2019. Do yall think this is competitive as long as I do really well on the Hesi!? I'm stressing out over here!

I don't think you should let that discourage you, a 3.5 IS competitive. Just go get those As and do well on your HESI girl!

Anyone know what the acceptance timeline is? I know the deadline for application is January 15, but when do they actually start sending out acceptances etc? Good luck everyone :)
