UT Health Pacesetter BSN Spring 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Yes, it is extremely early to begin talking about the Spring 2018 class, however, I thought it would be nice if we could all get together here and go through our pre-req/application/acceptance journey. It would be fun to lend support, chronicle our stresses and excitements and see how everything unfolds for us from now until the first day of class (assuming we get accepted).

I'll start:

I'm taking my pre-reqs at Lonestar (10 hrs for Spring, 14 hrs for Summer). I plan to take 18 hrs for Fall and will be testing out of 15 hrs via CLEP. I work PRN in a Critical Care unit at a major hospital. I will be taking the HESI in May; once Spring semester ends. Lastly, I have high hopes to be accepted into the Honors program once I am eligible to apply, since I have a deep interest in research.

I hope to hear from some of you! The application deadline is September 1 and there is a webinar info session at 10am tomorrow.

God bless.

Hi Guys! Do we have to submit our immunization records and BLS certification when we apply or is it when we get accepted?

Hello! I believe it's when you've been accepted, you have that time in between to get those done in order to start nursing school. That's why sometimes people on the waiting list get those done regardless, since they can get notified of acceptance almost right before class begins.

Okay, Thank you :) Tess73

For those still studying for the hesi, I found the elseveir book was spot on for all the subjects except for A&P. A&P is very broad and the questions varied from general knowledge to a few specific things. I found Anatomy & Physiology to have been the most helpful thing for me. Just go over and read each different section. I made a 92 in A&P. Good luck everyone.

I am thinking about applying. I am graduating with my Bachelors degree in May of this year from UHD. I tried nursing school at HBU but after one semester I was beyond burnt out. I had been taking 19 hours (not counting clinicals) which was the only way for me to graduate on time. I don't want to give up on nursing but I am worried about going back and having another bad experience, and I am also unsure if I want to give up the job I have right now.

Current GPA: 3.0

Prereq GPA: 3.5

Science GPA: 3.5

I need to retake HESI. Going to start studying for it ASAP.

I am also considering applying for ADN program at Lonestar.

Hello! I am new to this thread hopeful for spring 2018 , fall 2017 was not my semester but one question about your experience at HBU? How or why did u feel burnt out? Thanks

Hey don't feel bad my overall prerequisite GPA is a 3.06 and my science GPA is a 3.1. My hesi a2 scores are as follows: reading comprehension 88

Math 96

Vocabulary 92

Grammar 92

Anatomy and physiology 80

Overall score 89.6

I have my Associates in Science and a total of 68 hours. I'm also applying for the spring of 2018 as well. I already applied my question for y'all is I have a transcript and my hesi scores in my to-do list in my UTH portal and I don't know how to get rid of it or what it means. Also are any of y'all going to live in their campus housing? I'm not optimistic about snagging a campus apartment especially since the waiting list comes out the last 2 weeks of January and that is the semester we're all applying for. Last thing I took my hesi on May 30, 2017 under the UTH code so why is it still in my to do list/why don't they have my scores?

Just joining the thread! I also am applying spring 2018

Not sure if anyone answered you on this but taking it once the score can be used for anywhere that takes Hesi but I was told by 2 schools you're only allowed to take once in a one year period. @victoriadukes

Hi, everyone! I just submitted my application for UTH, and I'm excited to go through this journey with y'all. I always like being able to see the stats of everyone applying, so I know where I stand. Hopefully, you guys can share your stats too :) Here are mine:

Overall GPA: 3.67

Science GPA: 3.63

HESI:

Overall: 94.8

Reading: 94

Grammar: 96

Vocab: 88

A&P: 96

Math: 100

Good luck to everyone!

If any of you have any questions, feel free to ask me! I am a current student :)

Do you know of they choose candidates on a lottery system or do they really screen all 1000 applicants?

Did you talk to any of the other admitted students to see where there scores and GPAs ranged? Do you live in campus housing? If so was it hard to get an apartment? How is the course load? How many schools did you apply to and how many of them were you accepted to? Did you receive any scholarships for UTH?
