TWU Fall 2017 Nursing Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all,

I've decided to go ahead and start this thread for those who are in the process of applying for the HIGHLY COMPETITIVE nursing program at TWU (FALL 2017) Feel free to share your STATS, questions, and good vibes as we're all here to get accepted!

I'm personally interested in the Night/weekend program since I already have a bachelor's degree and I just finished my TWU application (since TWU requires you submit a "new student" application first, then the Nursing application) I am planning on submitting my nursing application right after I hear back..

I also have not yet taken my TEAS, but am in the process of studying for it to take in a couple weeks!

How's everyone else doing?

Specializes in Labor and Delivery.

Hello! I am applying for the Fall 2017 Weekend/Evening Program in Dallas.

Nursing GPA: 4.0

Teas: Scheduled for 01/07/2017

No prior degree or TWU bump

I will update you all with my points total once I get my Teas results. I am super excited as I have been working towards this for about two years now.

Good luck everyone!

Yay! We have more posts! My stats are:

Nurse Core: 3.9

-Haven't taken the Teas yet!

-Currently taking my last pre-req in a short wintermester course (developmental psychology)

-Precious Bachelors in speech language pathology

-currently have 59 points on the except sheet for TWU Dallas campus as far as ranking point goes, but that'll have once I take my TEAS and I put that into the excel sheet

(Remember they're only taking into consideration pre-rep & nursing core GPAs this semester. Previous bachelors degrees help and from another thread I have learned that the Dallas Campus is MUCH more competitive- which is where I'm applying to so wish me luck)

Deadline is Feb 1st!

Scholarship deadlines March 23rd I Believe!

I submitted my TWU general application last week and for a reply back for acceptance in a matter of 2-3 business days, so they're zoooominf through the general applications for anyone wondering.

has anyone began the actual upper division nursing application?

I'm taking the TEAS over at Westherford College. That's the only available place I could find

Hey guys! I'm starting the TWU Dallas Nursing program in January. I transferred in with no bump. If you have any questions please feel free to ask! I'm here to help in any way possible.

Hello all. I am going to apply for the program too with a previous bachelor degree. I took teas in november but ended up getting 75â„… because of not having enough time to study. Nursing GPA is 3.7. Can anyone recommend which study aid to use? I don't trust the ATI study guide with wrong answers.

Would appreciate any help. TIA

Hello, we are in a similar boat. My Teas score is a 74 I took the Teas v in 2015. I used the V manual to study. I am going to take the teas 6 this month. I am currently using the 6 manual and I purchased 2 online test from the ATI website. Did you find the 6 study manual helpful? I noticed that it is alot smaller than the teas 5 study manual. Im not sure if that is a good or bad thing. I have a 4.0 gpa and a B.S. degree. I have 41.3 points and I am applying to the Houston campus. What campus are u applying to?

Congrats! Id love to hear about your experience so far. How was the application cycle for you? Do you know what the average TEAS score for your cycle was? I'm taking mine on the 19th this month, but I'm pretty nervous about it since I won't be able to retake in time before deadline Feb 1st.

Also, I had a few questions about the program: Are there any things we should consider studying/doing in order to get preprared before beginning? (If we get accepted) What are expenses like? (Books, scrubs, etc.) If we get accepted, is there an orientation we attend before starting class? When are clinical done?

Sorry for for all the questions! Thanks so much for offering to help:)

I'm taking the TEAS this month too. I've been using a study guide I purchased at half price books, you tube videos, and I also went to Barnes & Noble to get a glimpse of a new edition study book. (It was a copy of the ATI study guide.. I grabbed my phone and took a few shots of the pages I needed) I can't afford all those expensive ATI materials so I did what I had to. Haha. This has helped quite a bit though. Good luck!

The application process was fairly simple. It was so simple that I was always scared that I was missing something. For Dallas I believe the average score was 85. I have a friend who got in with an 84 and another friend who got into Houston with a 77. And the 19th is more than enough time to take it again... as long as you have sent your scores in and have actually taken the test before the last date, they will accept it even if he score hasn't reached them by the deadline.

As far as the program, I really advise people to take patho the semester prior to starting your nursing program. The schedule is very rigorous and require lots of additional time to study and that patho class will just take a load off you. I would also recommend saving money the semester before bc there are a lot of expenses to pay for. I'm gonna say about 600/700$ before even starting school. And yes they will have an orientation for accepted students that's REALLY helpful in preparing students for the upcoming semester. And you start lab and clinicals in your first semester.

And it's no problem. Please ask away. I didn't ask quest and I wish I would've.

Hey good to see others in similar situation. I have my TEAS scheduled for January 19 and I am using ATI teas secrets study guide. I remember the nursing advisor mentioning this book too. I didn't like the ATI manual 6 because I feel it's not enough. How do you like it? I have 41 points too. The advisor told me that Houston program is not as competitive as the Dallas campus. She said that with this GPA and points I could easily get in the Houston campus. I am applying for the Dallas campus. You have very high chances of getting in. Good luck for everything

For anyone that is studying to take the TEAS I really recommend using the Pocket Prep app! I didn't really get a chance to really sit down and study for the TEAS too much, so this helped to study whenever I had a free moment. I believe it cost around $10.
