Hi all,
I've decided to go ahead and start this thread for those who are in the process of applying for the HIGHLY COMPETITIVE nursing program at TWU (FALL 2017) Feel free to share your STATS, questions, and good vibes as we're all here to get accepted!
I'm personally interested in the Night/weekend program since I already have a bachelor's degree and I just finished my TWU application (since TWU requires you submit a "new student" application first, then the Nursing application) I am planning on submitting my nursing application right after I hear back..
I also have not yet taken my TEAS, but am in the process of studying for it to take in a couple weeks!
How's everyone else doing?
I used the ATI study manual and watched LOTS of YouTube videos. Also, I bought the two practice test that ATI offers, which gave me a better idea of how the test was going to look.
YES I forgot to mention, practice tests. I used the practice tests they have online, and in the study guides for Version V and Version VI. Take them as many times as you can and do your best to stimulate the test taking environment with timers and the whole nine. I actually finished the whole thing in 1.5 hours.
Hello. I posted my stats earlier but said I would post again once I received my TEAS 6 scores. Well, the results are in and I couldn't be happier! My final stats for application are:
Nursing Core GPA: 4.0
TEAS 6: 92.0%
Reading: 95.7
Math: 100
Science: 87.2
English: 83.3 (I really struggled with this for some reason)
No TWU or Bachelor's bump
Total Points: 56.73
I am applying for the weekend/evening program. I really hope I am competitive enough. Good luck everyone!
I also started a thread a while back for those applying to the weekend/evening program. If anyone is interested in that program you can post there as well.

Your stats are great! I'm confident you'll get in:) I'm still waiting to take the TEAS on the 19th, so I'm studying for it now. Can anyone give me any insight on th topics covered in th science portion? As far as anatomy, chemistry, etc.? I've been reading mixed reviews...thank you!
I think it could be variable due to the computer generated nature of it but in my experience there were mostly A&P questions. I don't recall any chemistry outside of stuff like figuring out atomic number, protons, neutrons. I came across absolutely no cell biology (cytoplasm question). Even in regards to A&P I didn't have any quetions on DNA/RNA transciption translation. It was practically back to back A&P e.g tropomysoin troponin.
So in my advice hammer that A&P...I honestly thought I would do worse on math than A&P but the reverse happened. It probably does not help that I last took A&P two years ago and concentrated on studying math.
I thought the most helpful thing for science was the crashcourse videos on youtube. The A&P questions are really overview type questions. For chemistry, know how to balance equations and the types of bonds. I would study chemical reactions too. I read over the science portion in the ATI manual twice and I did the online tests. Those were really helpful.

Hi all,
I am applying for Fall 2017 as well and I'm thinking of applying to the traditional BSN at Dallas. My status is:
TEAS: 90.3
Nursing GPA: 3.53
Have a previous bachelor's degree from my country
And my overall grade on TWU advising worksheet is 55.44 (If I have done it correctly)
I haven't talked to an advisor, so I do not know where I am among all the applicants. Really Hope I can get in!! Good luck everyone!!

Hello everyone! I'll get straight to the point. Fun fact I've been lurking these boards for years but just now signed up.
I hope to be accepted into the Weekend / Post Bacc. Program
Previous Bachelors from TWU in Health Studies
TEAS- 86 Cumulative
- Reading: 91.5
-Math 93.8
-Science 74.5
-English and Language 87.5
Science GPA: 3.3 something (ish)
Pre req GPA: 3.3 ish (not that great)
TWU Grade Points: 51. something the last time I checked.
Application Status: everything is in except for my latest chemistry grade from NCTC. I've spend the last two years re-taking some science classes. Lets just say when I did go to TWU I came there for a nursing degree, partied a bit too much and settled for a Health Studies degree. The degree has done me well as I have been working since graduating and am currently working for a local hospital system.
I've also applied to UTA
regarding TEAS studying
I bought the TEAS V study manual. For the last year I've had it and picked it up off and on in between working and taking some science classes over again. Enough time finally passed and they phased in the TEAS VI. I bought that manual too. They are both good in their own ways. The version V would still be helpful to some students who have been out of the game for a while and if you need step by step introduction on how to do fractions. The version V1 study manual was helpful to focus my studying for the last month. If you have not taken..and hell even if you have recently taken A&P both manuals DO NOT cover enough A&P to be safe. I would honestly suggest buying some cliff's note type book for A&P or just the notes you took in the class.
