TWU Fall 2017 Nursing Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all,

I've decided to go ahead and start this thread for those who are in the process of applying for the HIGHLY COMPETITIVE nursing program at TWU (FALL 2017) Feel free to share your STATS, questions, and good vibes as we're all here to get accepted!

I'm personally interested in the Night/weekend program since I already have a bachelor's degree and I just finished my TWU application (since TWU requires you submit a "new student" application first, then the Nursing application) I am planning on submitting my nursing application right after I hear back..

I also have not yet taken my TEAS, but am in the process of studying for it to take in a couple weeks!

How's everyone else doing?

Greetings, intrepid nursing students!

Reminder! NursingCAS applications for Fall 2017 admission to nursing are due this coming Wednesday, Feb. 1st at 10:59 PM CST. (That's basically midnight, Boston time, where NursingCAS offices are located.)

I have a question about transfer credit to TWU. I just got a call today to notify me that I was accepted into UTAs AOBSN program. This is great news. I am tentatively saying yes as I wait for the dust to settle on my TWU application.

Does any one know if Pharm or Patho taken at UTA will be accepted by TWU?

Congrats Amazon84!!!

unfortunately neither UTA nor TWU will except Patho unless you take it at their school (TWU will only accept Patho which must be taken at TWU and vice versa).

Okay I got an e-mail from my advisor (the first reply I got was from the general TWU nursing e-mail), she told me that :

Basically it's a no for pharm, but in the past Copeland has accepted other schools patho if he/she approves of the syllabus. She then gave me the e-mail address for the Patho professor Dr. Copeland.

Hi guys! I'm so glad that I found this thread! I'm so nervous about this whole thing to be honest!

Here are my stats:

Nursing core GPA: 3.634

Prerequisite GPA: 3.735

TEAS Composite: 81.3

Reading: 83

Science: 85.1

Math: 81.3

English: 79.2

36.88 on the TWU worksheet

No previous Bachelors and no TWU preference.

I go so alarmed because one of the advisors looked at my grades when I dropped of my transcripts and started out by saying "if you don't get in....". And also one of my friends who is attending TWU said that he got a 97 on his TEAS. I was a little disheartened by that because I want to advance to the next step so badly

Anyway, any tips would be greatly appreciated! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!

Hi everyone! I just applied to TWU SON this week and am relieved but super duper nervous!! My stats

Nursing GPA: 3.6

Overall GPA: 3.5

TEAS V Score 89.3

Reading: 91

Math: 100

Science: 85

English: 75...... I have no idea what happened here. I think I was just exhausted and words started blending together.

I'm really hoping to get into to TWU because its my dream. However because I'm from NY my pre-reqs are on the iffy side.

How well does TWU do with transfer credit? I took a four credit writing class that I wrote 20pgs worth of assignments, it was the universities version of a basic english class. Do you believe they would credit it for both ENGs?

Hello kenyajenelle! The best people to ask about transfer credit would be the TWU advisors. However, their website also has some good information.

I wouldn't think that they would count the English for two classes but I could be wrong. You can still get in without all of your prerequisites though. You just have to have the minimum amount of credits (46 credit hours) completed.

Hey guys!

I've been somewhat reading a few threads before I came across this one & decided to make an account haha.

My scores are:

Teas VI: 84.7% overall

Prerequisite gpa: 3.56

With no TWU bump nor previous Bachelor's.

Houston

Honestly I'm expecting to be waitlisted, but it just depends! Last year's applicants received their acceptance emails on March 18, 2016. I read last year's forum, which was really helpful.

Best of luck to all applicants!!

Hey y'all!

I applied to Dallas (Evening/Weekend preference)! My stats are:

Nursing core GPA: 3.72

TEAS: 92.7% overall

Prior Bachelor's

No TWU preference

Total points: 59.5

Good luck to everyone applying!!

Hey guys!

I applied for the Dallas Campus traditional nursing program. Just waiting (ever so patiently) for that email!

My stats are as follows:

Nursing Core GPA: 3.88

TEAS Composite Score: 84.7

Reading: 78.7

Science: 87.2

Math: 90.6

English: 83.3

I have the TWU preference points.

When I filled out the GPA spreadsheet I came out with a 63.53

Heather said that should be competitive enough to get in, so if you're close to those stats I wouldn't worry too much. (Even tho my anxiety is killing me right now lol)

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! Keep me updated :)

Does anyone know if they send updates before acceptance letters? Last year my friend received an email saying her application was eligible for review.

Hey so I found out I took a seminar class that may count toward the English comp requirements. I am from NY so there isn't a direct equivalent. Here's the course description;

"This year-long seminar, required for all Year One students, introduces them to the close reading of texts and the writing of substantive analytical essays that are the basis of much college work. The seminar, subtitled The Examined Life, focuses on themes of self-discovery, the relationship of the individual and society, and the nature of values and responsibility. It draws on and develops methods introduced in the Writing and Thinking Workshop, fostering critical thinking and the effective articulation of ideas. In the first semester, reading for the course include Sophocles' The Oedipus Cycle, Plato's The Last Days of Socrates, and Dante's Inferno, along with short supplementary readings selected to broaden student's ideas about literature and how to approach it."

let it me know what you think!
