Rutgers University Fall 2018 ABSN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello all,

I've noticed that no-one made a thread for the accelerated nursing program for fall 2018 students so I decided to start one. Feel free to share any knowledge on the program :)

@nursemary29 I'm on the SAME boat! I recently overlooked the BLS certification requirement, so I'm taking it this Monday! I think we are going to have to pay more money to overnight our transcripts to NursingCAS and submit everything ASAP, for it to be verified before June 1st.

I wish I could get it overnighted! The school (RVCC) uses a 3rd party transcript service and the only option listed is Standard Shipping (5 business days). This would be SO much easier if they accepted e-transcripts which are almost instant. They need to get with the times haha.

If it gets closer to the deadline and I'm still not verified I guess I'll contact Rutgers and see what they say. I don't want to bother them prematurely cause they probably get so many questions.

@cb57 My overall GPA is 3.6, my prereqs are 3.8. I've been an ER tech for almost a year (also at RWJ! St. Barnabas specifically). I'm not sure when you would have to find housing for Delaware, but my friend who is in the Rutgers program now said she got accepted 2 weeks after she submitted her app, so it sounds like they are pretty quick.

I have a prof waiting until the very last minute to post one of my science grades, despite numerous emails and a promise on his end that they'd be posted well in advance of May 17...still nothing. I hope Rutgers is flexible on this as there's likely no way my transcript will reach NursingCAS in time now, let alone be verified. Super frustrating.

Hi,

I recently attended the open house in NB. Many prospecting students asked questions regarding whether there grades not being verified by NursingCAS by June 1st would be an issue b/c they were in the process of taking the courses in spring 2018. The reply of the recruiter was simple. She said to just email her an unofficial transcript of the grade while the transcripts waits to be received, processed, and verified. This made me nervous too because in the previous info sessions I've attended they mentioned that grades had to be verified by June 1. Give them a call. I'm not sure if I can post numbers here.

P.S. I am at the verified state and my official transcript with my last pre req came in and NursingCAS informed me that on June 1st they would be able to verify and recalculate my GPA. Also, once submitted and even though not verified the school can take a look at your application.

Thanks! I've submitted my application now. My prof ended up not posting the grade after the deadline had passed for the college... I had to email the dean and ask her to help me. Thankfully within 24 hours she got it resolved and I was able to order my transcripts. I sent one to Rutgers in Newark just in case. I figure at least they can see I took the courses, even if NursingCAS isn't showing them as verified yet.

Question: do your applications say complete? Mine do...yet my updated transcript has not arrived to them, so surely my inputted grades have not been verified? I also do not see any calculated GPAs anywhere.

My application according to NursingCAS is verified which to me means complete. If you look under the status tab (next to submit) you will "My Programs" and that shows in green Verified and that the transcripts have arrived once you click on the program.

I hope you listed all the colleges you've attended even if you got some college credit in high school that transferred to your undergrad...I had to run to get a transcript sent to NursingCAS.

Is it too early to prepare for classes like Pathophysiology and Pharmacology?

I don't want to get overly excited or waste the only time I might if I get in, but I have heard repeatedly that Pathophysiology is the one to watch out for in those first 7 weeks. Videos on YouTube give me the same impression.

I have even started to review A&P material too just in case I don't get in and have to take the HESI for NJCU.

I see. Mine is green and says "Complete" but nothing has been verified. All transcripts say "arrived". According to the site they don't start verifying until you submit the application...so I think I'm in the 2 week wait.

What was your prereq GPA if you don't mind me asking? I don't think I'll be reviewing much until I get notification if I'm in or not. I need a break!

Hi All - I was able to submit my application today, even though I still have one transcript that hasn't arrived to Nursing CAS yet (so my verification process hasn't even begun yet). I emailed the recruiter to ask if it's an issue if they aren't verified by the Jun 1 deadline. They replied:

"No worries, you should be fine. We continue the admission process through the month of July."

So I think as long as you submit your application by the deadline, they are understanding about transcripts arriving and being verified a little later. The email I contacted was [email protected] if you guys have questions.

@jgf78 This is in the FAQ section of Nursing CAS:

"You can submit your application before your transcripts and references are received. Please note, however, that we will not review your application until all of your transcripts, payments, and references are received."

So I'm pretty sure "Complete" means you are ready to submit the app, even though you are still waiting on transcripts. Once they arrive they will verify and the Nursing CAS GPAs will populate. Verification will only happen after you've submitted the app since they want the application fee to do the work :)

Hope that helps! Not sure if you saw my other post below, but I emailed Rutgers and it seems ok if the verification process goes past the deadline
