Hello nurse educators,
First and foremost, thank you! Without you, we would not be here!
My goal is to earn my MSN in Education, hopefully starting a program within the year. I was considering an online program (Western Governors) for cost/time benefit; however, when I shared my plans with my parents' neighbor that is a nursing professor, she said that online is not the way to go and is viewed as less prestigious than a traditional brick and mortar program. Do y'all find this to be the case? If so, I have some serious reconsidering to do!
Thank you!

Not the case. I work in academia and am in a DNP program with my WGU MSN. Your friend needs to get with the times.
Thank you for your reply! Definitely what I was hoping to hear. Good luck in your program!

I earned my MSN in Education online and I have had no trouble finding work at the local colleges. However, I have had a few of my online 'classmates' tell me that similar comments were made to them. It is unfortunate that online schools seem to have a reputation of not being up to par but as jean mentioned above, online schools are the choice for many these days and they aren't going away anytime soon. Employers are going to have to realize this too! Good luck! :)

I got mine from Excelsior and have had no problems. In fact I (and several classmates) immediately got teaching jobs. It was by far, the best way for me.

Got my MS (Health Care Admin) completely on line from a brick and mortar school. Did not step onto campus until graduation day!
