online LPN-RN or LPN-BSN

Published

Does anyone know of some good LPN-RN or LPN-BSN online schools? I recently found out that the RN program I got into was not having a nights and week/end program this year after I applied, took the TEAS and was accepted and all that then I was told only a day program. So I am doing a LPN program instead at night and on the weekends, does anyone know of any good programs for LPN-RN that are at night or week/ends in Kansas City? I am basically reaching for anything here, I want to get my FNP but hardest part seems to be able to find a school that offers nights and week/ends in my area. Just want advice early on where to get my RN or BSN after my LPN so I have a plan draw out that way I don't waste time by missing application dates or anything like that.

You can look into ISU (Indiana State University). They have an online LPN to BSN class you can take. When you go to the site click on the distance education link for all the info. Another idea is to go to your state board of nursing for RN and see what distance or online programs are available for your state. Also, you can check out Excelsior or Kaplan. I think they also have an online BSN program. Once you get your BSN, University of Pheniox offers the MSN program for FNP online.

HTH!

You can look into Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. I have researched and they have on LPN to RN Online Bridge Program. Good Luck!

I am not sure where you are.. but if you are anywhere close to southern ohio

look into the University of Rio Grande.. they have an LPN to RN (associates) that is taken online.. but you have to drive to clinical once a week for 6 hours

There is always the college networks program through Indiana state university, but it looks a little pricey for me.

you could look into Pratt Community College in Pratt, KS. It is all online for your LPN-RN bridge and you have 6 weeks of clinicals at the end of each semester. I have clinicals in Newton, KS, Overland Park Regional, Children's Mercy on MO side, Osawatomie Mental Health, and Stormont Vail in Topeka, KS.

Tainted, can you give us more info on Rio Grande's program? Did you attend there? I live in southern Ohio (Dayton area) and am looking into my options for bridging. Sinclair is a great school, but I know several people in the program and they say it is not doable with working and family. They've had to drop down to PRN status and have a hard time maintaining the minimal hours the facility requires.

I'm leery of doing an online program tho b/c I'll be an older student... have never taken an online course and wonder if classroom instruction would be best for me.

And the clinicals... I think Rio only offers clinicals an hour away from the school. That would be about a 1 1/2 - 2 hour drive for clinicals each week. I like the idea of having clinicals 1 day a week as opposed to 3, but the drive might be a bit much.

Thanks!

I recommend anyone stay very clear of the college network. they jued me to the tune of $5500:eek: all I have is a box of crappy binders to show for it! Go directly through the school of your choice and save yourself the money, stress, and time!

Hey I'm new to this website and I am about to start my Lpn class soon. I am planning ahead and already looking into Lpn to rn online classes and came across Pratt. My current gpa is only 2.2 in the nursing pre req but I am currently in 2 of the pre req classes and I still have 2 more to go. I did get a A or B in A&P and was wanting to know from any current students any advice they would give me to increase my chances on getting into the program. I also wanted to know other current students overall gpa's and teas scores.

Excelsior LPN/RN program is really convienent for those who work and are trying to get their associtates. I did a couple of semesters at the University of Rio Grande online program it is a pretty good program all class work online and I had clinicals once a week for 12hrs. I did not complete the program my father got really sick and my mom needed help with him, so I put family first of course and now that things are settled down a bit I am trying to finish my degree, but I am going to go thru excelsior i know a couple of people who just completed the program and they absolutely loved it. GOOD LUCK!!!
