I also am looking into starting an online FNP program. I also applied to the University of Cincinnati and the University of Alabama Birmingham (which may I say is SUPER affordable). I don't want to put off going to school for another year, because we don't really know where we are going to move in the next few months. I was just wondering if doing an online NP program was going to hinder me in any way or cause any kind of problems trying to complete it. I also wanted to know how to deal with clinicals, and if it is hard to get people to be your clinical instructor/preceptor, especially if there are other schools in the area that use the same facilities (possible conflict of interest). If anyone has any words of wisdom or any help to bestow on us, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch!
What about recommendations related to going straight from RN lisencing to FNP/NP programs or getting experience first? With any luck I'll be able to sit for the RN exam this spring/summer. There are several of us in my class that go back and forth between these to options and are all really unsure. Any advice/suggestions/experiences you wish to share would be very welcomed.
I did my PNP on line and found it to be more flexible with work and family life, if I decided I wanted to travel with my husband on business trips all I had to do was pack up my laptop and what ever books I needed, Clinical required that you seek out your own preceptor, depending where you live that can be a challenge, but you just need to network with people, ask around, I tried a traditional brick and mortar program that was not flexible, and you had to print out the lecture notes and once you got to class the professor read the notes verbatim, I found that I learned more on line than I did attending class, I am not saying it was easier you still need to study for exams and online exams were more difficult IMO. We had projects that we had to do online either alone or in a group. The nice thing about online is if you move you can take the program with you, one student in our class was deployed to Iraq and was able to complete the program he made arrangements to get all his clinical hours in before he deployed and did the didactic part while deployed, another student was in Japan with her husband so it is doable :heartbeat

I am looking to start an online Family Nurse Practitioner Program and I would like to know if anyone can suggest a really good online program? I have received information so far from the University of Cincinatti and Ball State. Can anyone suggest a really good and flexible program? Thanks.
