I am considering taking English 1 online for the summer and take 2 math classes on Campus. Fundamental Algebra, Summer Session A and then Basic Algebra Summer Session B.
Does anyone have any experience with the English online class. I have very strong reading skills. Would this be too much just starting after 18 years? I believe I can do it.

Well...believing in yourself is more than half the battle so congratulations there.
I am currently in 3 online classes (one is ENG 112) and 1 face to face class. It took a little adjustment to keep the different classes straight but, it is working out great for me.
If you can use a computer well and you need little motivation to get your work done then I think you would be fine.
Good Luck!

I had been out of school for 14 years prior to starting my pre-req's ENG 101 online A, Psychology 101 A - both online both at the same time. It's not reading its ALOT of WRITING!!! I wouldn't recommmend taking that with a Biology you have to write essays and lab reports with as I did. I thought I was going to die. But Im also taking Intro Algebra and A&P online as well currently. Have to take ENG 102 in person because its the only late spring course left ( Accelerated at least 4/16 to 5/21 ) I want all my co-req's out of the way before July when I am thinking about starting NS ( if I don't defer until January)

Well I too have signed up for English 111 online. I graduated with my bachelors degree in 1991. Guess what? None of my credits transferred. The hospital college dean said that my credits are too old.(over 10 yrs. old). So here I go again. I took the CLEP tests for sociology, and psychology. I wasn't that brave for english. I've heard that english 112 is too hard to take online. So, I'll be taking that over the summer. My nursing program starts Aug 25th.
Healthlink,
I haven't found ENG 112 too hard at all.
It's just a lot of writing, like another poster said. The hardest part for me is making myself do the work. I tend to procrastinate. But, I'm that way with everything not just this.
I have an APA paper due Sunday and I haven't worked on it all week. Yet, here I am on Allnurses. Once I get started I'm ok I just have a hard time motivating myself.

I took English 101 online and I loved the format, but Hated the professor! I managed to get an A (it was a miracle with that teacher!)
If you have good reading skills and you think you can do it then you will probably do great! Try to find out what your instructor will be like - they make all the difference in the world.
My advice would be to check out a web site like RateMyProfessors.com - I sure wish I had known about it before! Self confidence is half the battle with writing so good for you having it already Good luck!

I'm in English Composition I (on campus) right now and as someone posted earlier it's not much reading, it's more WRITING. I think it would be ok to do online. We don't have much lecture at all....it's all about those essays.

I'm taking English Comp right now online at my local community college. Like a previous poster said, it's all about the essays. So far, it's been great. Also, don't forget to check out ratemyprofessors.com. Professors each have their own style of teaching online courses. Some have little interaction and some have lots. Good Luck!

it's super easy. i am taking it online and have only final left. english is my second language and i have some minor grammar problems but i have strong a in this class. so, it should be even more easier for you.
i am also taking two other online classes, working full time during the day, going to cna school at night, and i spend 6 hours in my bio202 class every saturday. i manage to have all as in all of my classes, so, trust me, it is doable.

I took English 101 online. It was very enjoyable for me. There is a lot of essay writing. Our instructors incorporated a blog into our final project as well. I am glad I took the course online.
