I have a BS in Biology and wanting to go back to get my BSN/RN then onto MSN to get my NP.
Most of the online BSN programs I have found are RN to BSN completion which since I do not have my RN I can not do.
Does anyone know of any BSN programs that are online that do not require you to already have an RN?
You can check the community colleges near you; they have lots of classes online where I am attending, but you won't find Nursing I through IV available online; like pharmacology and sociology are for us, and most all the prereq's/coreq's are, but the nursing core classes for RN are not, and we go to the local hospital through the community college to do clinicals for RN, but see what's available in your state.
See the problem is you have to have someone supervising you for your clinicals before you are an RN, so I don't see how you can get supervised clinicals for an RN distance-wise (your supervisor would have to be affiliated with the college you are doing online classes with). Once you are an RN, then you are already working unsupervised, that's why the RN-BSN programs let you do clinicals at a distance but no RN that I know of.
you need to go to RN school and complete the requirements to sit for boards. you cannot sit for NCLEX RN until you are graduated from a accredited RN program.
if you want your BSN and not a LPN or RN at this time, you will need to attend school , and clinicals...
good luck in school and keep us posted

Hello Mommy2three,
Here is some info I just found from a link posted in another forum. It appears that the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh has a program that may be of interest to you. It looks like you have a few campus sessions, but your clinical rotations are done in an area close to you. A potential stumbling block - Illinois has not granted them permission to do clinical rotations in their state, but you might contact the school to see if the list posted on their website is up-to-date, and if there is any room for negotiation or alternative arrangements.
Best of luck!

I have a bachelor's in general education, and an AA in Occupational Therapy. As far as I can determine, all my prerequisites are done except for micro. I'm looking for an ADN program in the LA area, online preferred, but on campus OK if there isn't a 2 yr waiting list! Anyone know of anything that may be of help?
Mommy2three2,
I got this today from a NursingLink newsletter -- accellerated BSN for someone with BSN in another field 12-18 months -- I have not read it yet, so I don't know the specifics, but it sounds like what you were asking about with your having a Bachelor's in another field and wanting to go into nursing; although I don't know if any of it is online, it only takes 12 to 18 months! Just passing it along.
University Of Wisconsin Oshkosh has a BS to BSN online ACCELERATED PROGRAM , that can be done in almost any state. The clinicals are done through your hospitals at home! Takes one year!
Oh my gawsh; I am tired, very busy week at school/work this week. How bout the website!?

have you considered a direct entry nurse practitioner program? this allows individuals who have degrees already to go staright into nursing curriculum. i believe indiana state university has a distance program.
