I am just curious b/c once I graduate w/ my ADN I will be living about an hour and 20 min from the closest college that offers BSN and MSN programs in nursing, so it would be more convenient to this online but is it legit and how does it work? I certainly would not want to do this unless it was worth it and a qualifed program, so please tell me all you know about this. Thanks
Emilee:)

University of Phoenix offers programs that are genuine and very good for both the BSN bridge and the MSN.
There are many others, but I am the most familiar with this one. :)

A degree granted from an accredited college or university is perfectly legitimate. I graduated from an online RN-BSN program and am enrolled in an online MSN program ---there is absolutely nothing in my records or on my diploma that would suggest to someone that I was (or am) an online student. My transcripts reflect the courses I have taken and my diploma reflects the degree that I earned. (They don't stamp "ONLINE" on your transcripts or your diploma in big red letters)
What you want to make sure of is that the program you attend is accredited by the NLNAC or the CCNE. I would stay away from programs that are not accredited by one or the other.
Here are the links to check out the schools' accreditation status:

I graduated in 1997 in the first on line class of the California State University of Dominguez Hills with a BSN. I too lived 90 mins+ from the nearest campus and I saved much time and stress by studying in this manner. The program is excellent and now has a MSN, several of my colleagues have used CSUDH online for their degrees or are currently studying online with them. If you are a self directed learner you should have no problems, the school is appropriately accredited and I think less expensive than the University of Phoenix.

I'm glad to see you post.. this is where I'd like to do my BSN online as well. Without hijacking the thread, would you tell me how you liked it? I think I fugured out that it would cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $10,000. Would you say that's close? I've asked them for information but they haven't sent me any yet. I live in CA too and I think the idea of graduating from a CA school (even though it's online) appeals to me....

I loved it! Even though we had the odd technical glitch because it was so new it was really easy and having the flexibility of studying when I wanted to was great, not to mention the time and money saved by not having to commute. Friends and colleagues who are using it now say that they have very few problems, technical or otherwise. I see from your post you are in Central California, me too, in Ridgecrest. Good luck!!

I'm going to an online RN to BSN program that is accredited by the NLN. Totally completely 100% legit.
It was the wave of the future a few years back and is more and more common as more students want/need this option.
Good luck to you in your endeavors.
You already an RN so there are no "clinicals". You may have to do projects at work. So far I've analyzed a shift I've worked to check my autonomy, and I've given a couple of presentations. In the end I'm going to have to follow a supervisor around where I work and write a paper about that. But no clinicals!

I have found them to be rather pricey. UOP told me nearly $21,000 for about 18 courses. It is very enticing though. One of our mods is just finishing up the BSN online.

California State Dominguez Hills offers a program and it is legit. Check out the website all the information is there. It's also cheaper than University of Phoenix
They are rather pricey indeed. My school is half the price of UoP, but I'm willing to pay it for the convenience of going online and having no clinicals.
