I hate the whole applying online job application thing, never realized how many different computer programs there are for applying on line There are two different places that use the same type of program and it will show you that a there is a change in the status of your application by high-lighting it in yellow.....but what does that mean does anyone know?
Has my application been forewarded on to the hiring manager?
Does it mean that it has been rejected?
Does it mean....well I don't know what else it means but the website offers no explanation and they say not to contact the company to ask HR questions.
So I ask all out here in allnurse if any of you may know
I like the other programs that will tell you if your application has been forewarded to the hiring manger, or rejected, dont get the color coded system

That made me think of my recent time sitting in a hospital HR office. I was filling out paperwork. The phone kept ringing and the secretary just kept picking it up and saying 'you have to check the status of the application online, I can't help you'. She must have said it ten times in the the short time I was there filling out paperwork.
Doesn't help much if the 'status' doesn't really tell you anything.

I have applied to jobs that use a system that changes to yellow with a status change. So when it changes to its being forwarded to a manager it is a good thing. Some of mine would change to you have not been selected. At this point two are in the second stage "forwarded to a manager" the first stage is thanks for applying it will be reviewed by nurse recruiter so.. hopefully you will get an interview. That is what I am hoping on.

Did you end up getting called in for an interview? How long did it take for them to call you in?
They called me on Monday and interviewed with them on Tuesday, so 3 weeks untill they called me.
I applied for a job on 8/9 and on 8/11 the status changed to yellow (doesn't say anything just turned yellow). The next day the yellow highlighting went away. I don't know what to think.

Im a new member of allnurses and was wondering if you ever found out what it meant when your application status was in the yellow? I've filled out an application online, and recently went to check it and it was highlighted yellow as yours was, but there was no comment in the status box.. does this mean I was not selected???

Just curious...does anyone know what the status update means? I applied for a non-nursing job (ASST, Patient Information) on 4/27/2012 and on 5/3/2012 it was "updated" and highlighted in yellow. I logged in today and the yellow is gone. Anyone know?
What happened in the end? I am in the same situation! Thanks!

I know that this is an older post but I'm currently going through the same situation. Did you end up getting a call?
I started this thread 6 yrs ago, looking back I am trying to remember what came of it.....I did get an interview per my posting, but not that particular job. I never did ask what the highlight in yellow meant. So not very helpful.
Sad to hear that there are still systems out there that don't clearly state what the status is
