Hi,
Has anyone taken an online A&P class? If so, where did you take it?
Thanks!

kdrose01,
Take A&P I, A&P II and Microbiology all totally online at Ocean County College. They have become national leaders in online education.

You will love their online courses. It has made all the difference to this single Mom!
Thanks again, Jersey Girl!!

Is the A&P class completely online including labs or do you have to come to the campus for labs?
Yes, it's entirely online. I start tonight! You have to purchase your own lab kit, including a microscope. I haven't gotten mine yet, though.

I am starting A&P I online through Passaic County Community College, on Tuesday for the Summer I session.
I am excited and hope this works out well, a little nervous about it. It is totally online, lab also. I work fulltime
and a single mom, so I thought this would be a good option and offer more flexibility.
Jersey Girl,
Can you offer any advice on how to succeed in this class or what to expect? I just started A&P I at Ocean County. I'm excited, but worried, since it's been so long since my last science class!
Denise,
Good luck with your class! Do you have to purchase your own lab equipment for Passaic? And are your exams at the school or online?
Hi kdrose,
I was told it is totally online, no need to go to the campus.
It should be interesting to see how the lab experiments are going to work out. The only thing I had to buy so far is the text and lab book with the software for the lab experiment simulations.
Thanks, Denise! Good luck!!

I just finished A&P2 this semester and I have no idea how doing it online is possible. How does it work? How does doing the labs online work? We did cadaver dissections....unless you can order one of those, how are you doing it online? LOL
Oops...I just realized I must've clicked the wrong forum..I'm "suppose" to be in the NY forum, lol. Anyway....please still answer my questions, I'm severely curious. :)
Hi CrunchyMama,
You dissected a human cadaver in your A&P class?! I thought only med students did that. My A&P class just started, but so far, instead of lectures, you read, read, read and have online discussions. The instructor is more a guide than a teacher, since you're essentially on your own. You have the syllabus to follow, of course, and assignments to complete, but you do everything at home or online.
Some online A&P courses do simulated labs, but this one requires you to purchase a microscope, a dead cat, a brain (forget which animal it's from) and an eyeball (again an animal eye). You order these things from a supplier online (for homeschooling and online courses). Then you dissect these things at the appropriate time during the course. Some people live near enough one another that they do labs together. Others seem to do it over the phone or through skype together. I guess it's just nice to have support.
Since I do not like the area in which my local community college is located (bad neighborhood and I'd have to be there alone at night), and I don't even finish working until class starts, this is the best option for me. I have a lot of motivation, so I have no problem sitting down every night to do work instead of going to class. I'd love to be in a classroom, but that's not going to be so easy for my prereqs and my work schedule.
Hope classes are going well for you!
