I am 52 and in my third month of school. Not all I expected, but hanging in there. Good luck and I would recommend you write yourself a letter telling why you want to be a nurse and everything positive about your choice, believe me, you will need to pull it out and read it at some point to convince you to not give up. Good luck

Congratulations!
I think you will be amazed at what you bring to the table. Your life experience has afforded you skills that young nurses have yet to realize in their own lives. You have a more advanced understanding of the world that will be most beneficial in your professional career. I too waited to attend nursing school until later in life, and must say I am glad I did.
Best of Luck Old Man!!

Awesome and good luck to all! I just past LPN entrance exam to school in NJ but not starting until 2011. Going to take some classes at local community college for prep. 48yr old man here. Huge career change but lifelong dream. I will be using the "all nurse" sight often. Any Lic. LPN's or LPN students from NJ here? Just curious... If you are a current lic. lpn or student from ANY STATE please reach out as I believe communication is one of the "best medicines".

Congrats too all of your "older" guys starting nursing school! I can't imagine starting nursing school now at my age of 40 so I really hand it to you guys doing a major career change now. Kudos to all of you. BTW ... I too believe in school later in life, as I am finishing up my BSN in a few months. It can be done!
Good luck to all of you!
Finished up the first week of LPN school.
I'm 99% I'm the oldest male and maybe oldest over all. Atleast the instructor has a good ten years on me.
