One LAST essay question--to double space or no, two spaces between sentences, etc.

Published

Hi everyone!!

Finally getting my application in the mail tomorrow (out of my hands and I can go back to quitting smoking!:p).

My VERY last application question is for the technical stuff:

Did you guys double-space your paper, or single-space with a double-space between paragraphs? Did you put one or two spaces between sentences?

I'm getting VERY mixed opinions, so I thought my best shot was go to the source--people who have been there or are there right now.

Thanks for being so patient with me! ;)

BTW, thanks for all the great advice. Worked 2 and 3 rough drafts, had a former LPN friend and old professor help me rework them and I'm feelin' pretty good about them..or as best I can!!! :uhoh21:

Double spacing is easier to read and looks more professional.

I single-spaced with a double between paragraphs. I guess because that's how we type most stuff at work (totally different industry, though). Not sure what the rule is. I just figured if they wanted a specific format they would have mentioned that in the instructions. I always thought that double-spacing was just so that instructors had plenty of room to write in comments with their red pens!

if it has to be in apa format, then i believe it's double space with one space between sentences. if a particular format is not required, then i'd do what you think looks best.

Specializes in Operating Room.

For any school related paper, I double space and put two space between the sentences, unless instructed otherwise.

Just use your best judgement. :)

Good luck!!!!!!

Do you still have your Handbook for Writers from your English Comp classes? Look in there, it has saved the day for me many times ( I better find it since it's still in a box somewhere from our last move)

Hehe, thank you so so so SO much for replying guys!!

I wound up double spacing with an extra space between paragraphs and one space between paragraphs.

Got my packet off in the mail today, so I feel a HUGE load off of my shoulders...now it's off to stressing out about whether I missed something when re-checking for the 5th or 6th time (believe me, I do that on tests).

December 15 can't come fast enough!! :imbar

Thanks again guys and good luck to everyone here in getting what their hearts desire!! :balloons:

Just noticed the change in your sig--does this mean there's a possibility if enough people decline? **crosses fingers, toes, heart and eyes**

Well, I found out that there were 15 - 4.0 students that didn't get accepted, and 15 - 3.77 students with all of their support courses complete. I'm in the latter group of 15 somewhere! I have a 3.82 on the support classes, but that doesn't mean there not 14 - 3.77 students with a 4.0 on their support classes. lol

I could be anywhere from #16 - #30. So the chance is still there....up to January 17th.

If I were to get in, I sure would like to be called before I retake my Algebra class! :roll
