OMG! My feet are killing me!

Nurses Uniform/Gear

I need practical, real-world nursing shoes suggestions. My current pair is a pair of EasySpirit walking shoes. By the end of the day, my feet hurt so bad. I think maybe the toebox is too narrow since my "pinky" toe gets squished up under my 4th toe, which has now caused a blister? corn? bunion? whatever you call that thing. Does anyone have any suggestions for not just "good" shoes, but "great" ones? I really don't care if they cost $50 or $500 at this point.

When I was in Cleveland on a recruiting trip, I saw a sign at the local Walgreens advertising "Nurse Z" shoes $12.98 or 2 for $25.00. I was totally skeptical, but I went in just to see what $12.98 would get ya. The shoes don't even have a brand name to them and they came in a plastic bag, however, I LOVE THEM!!!!! My only wish is I would have bought more because now I can't find them again. If anyone knows where I can get these dreamy generic shoes, let me know. Thanks!!

I've gone through two pairs of cross trainers and a pair of Reebok walking shoes to help me get through my work and clinical days. Suffice to say, by the end of the day, my feet are killing me, and I'm having trouble walking. Can anyone advise a good pair of shoes/sneakers that can help? I really don't like walking this way....

1. Ryka sneakers - made by women, for women. They have nitrogen shock absorbancy. Great stuff!

I'm not a nurse, but at one time, my feet would give me so much pain I could barely walk at work. I went to the podiatrist and they said I was having falling arches, gave me braces for my feet, inserts for my shoes, and told me if I still had the pain I would need to have cortizone shots.

Here is what happened....

I had two pairs of shoes...brown and black of the same color...they were summer shoes when the pain actually started...it never really felt like the shoes were to blame b/c when I took them off, I still had the pain.

When the season changed...the pain went away..TOTALLY....it was the shoes that were causing my feet so much pain that I would wake up with it the next morning.

The pain was odd..and never felt like the shoes were causing it...if you know what I mean.

Something to consider.

I also feel your pain. My doctor recommended me to wear New Balance 608 shoes at work with my insoles that I had to have made for me. I've had all the cortisone injections that I can have, and surgery but still have times were my foot is killing me from PF. When it gets so bad that I can't take the pain, I get a medrol dose pack and that seems to help me for awhile. I don't know what else to do at this point, my surgeon said he may eventually have to do surgery again. I have scar tissue that is making the release of the PF not effective. I know there are times that I want to crawl in a bed at work and have someone take care of me..>LOL. I hope you find something that works for you.

I used to swear by Merrells, I sprained my ankle recently and dislike the lack of ankle support. I now wear Brooks Ariels and they're really good for my widening foot and instability.

I think that a sticky should be placed mentioning web sites for shoes for our poor, aching feet. Now, with the orthotics, my feet are MUCH better!

I SWEAR BY MY ZCOILS!!!!

I never have foot, arch, knee, or hip pain anymore.

That does it. I'm working an extra shift or two and hitting that store :lol2:

Do you need company?? I am doing quite well with the orthotics I obtained recently, but I am also seriously looking into shoes that relieve as well. I was fortunate over the years with purchasing mediocore shoes, but I didn't have pf. Now, I am prepared to search and spend serious money for my shoes. I realized being a nurse that my activity level will not change, therefore, I have to protect my feet and back at all costs. I'll meet you at the mall

There's no outlet near my home, but where I'll be on my next travel assignment, they have some. Woohoo!

Well that's good, I can see me tripping all over the place with those springs. I'm almost afraid to ask them the price tho'.

They are usually about $200.00, but well worth it!

I promise you, I thought the same thing :uhoh3:, I tend to fall anyway because of my knee (I have a left total knee), but you REALLY do not know that the springs are there, unless you get them caught in the computer wires at work, and pull the wires out and make the computer hit the floor . Oh yea- that really did happen to me. Fortunatly, the monitor didn't break, and our computer wizz was able to rewire the system. I sit at another part of the desk, now. :chair:

I hope that anyone that wants them can find an outlet near them--they really are great!!!!

Well, if you give me a week, I'll walk to meet you there. My orthotics are feeling heavenly at this point!:lol2:

Well, the verdict is in! I have worked almost a full night in my new shoes, and it has been probably the busiest night I have had in at least 6 months. I've been running my butt off! But my feet feel wonderful! In fact, I almost feel like I could do a few recreational laps around the cardiac walking track! (But I've been too busy.)

The brand name. . . .Keen. You can find them on-line. If you order of the internet, I would suggest buying a half size up from what you normally wear.

I *heart* my new shoes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
