I STUDIED THE NCLEX:devil: REVIEW BOOK LIKE IT WAS MY BIBLE, THEN I REALLY TOOK MY TIME AND LOOKED OVER EVERY QUESTION BEFORE ANSWERING. MY TEST SHUT DOWN AFTER 5 HOURS AND 210 QUESTIONS. I REALLY THOUGHT I DID GOOD BECAUSE I DID NOT FEEL APREHENSIVE ABOUT ANY QUESTION. I WROTE OUT 200 FLASH CARDS TO STUDY BY. I THINK THE SIDE EFFECTS OF THE DRUGS IS WHAT KILLED ME. I AM LOST NOW. I FELT LIKE NOTHING I STUDIED WAS ON THAT TEST:devil:. PLEASE PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT TO STUDY. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO EXPLAIN TO A FAMILY THAT DOES NOT BELIEVE IN ME THAT I FAILED. I AM JUST GONNA TELL THEM ALL THAT I PASSED. THEN WAIT THE PERIOD I NEED TO WAIT AND TAKE IT AGAIN. I DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO SAY...:crying2::crying2:

Did you take an NCLEX preparation course? (such as Kaplan) A company like that can often diagnose the source of your problem and help you correct it.
I would definitely pursue the various companies in your area that offer such courses -- and choose the face-to-face option if possible, not just the online versions. You need someone to help you identify your weakness and guide you through the improvement process. Don't just do more practice questions and use your own judgment about your test taking skills.

Do not give up. You will pass as long as you keep trying. And it would probably be best to be honest with your family.

thanks yall. I told my family last night and I have ordered some Saunders study guides yesterday online. I will pass this test if its the last thing i do. thanks for the support... i really needed it:)
I'm curious.... Why not get some professional help to diagnose and correct your problems? If all you do is study on your own, you may never get a good diagnosis of your weaknesses and a good plan designed to strengthen those areas.
Those of you with a history of failing the test need to get a clear idea as to WHY you failed before you can correct the problem. Treat yourself as you would treat a patient -- assess, diagnosis, plan, intervene, evaluate. By simply buying books to study on your own, you are jumping to the intervention phase without getting a good diagnosis first.
where would i go to find out my areas of weakness?

Ms. Tessa,
I have also failed 2 times. Embarrassing and humbling but not I repeat not the end of the world. I took a Kaplan review the first time, studied Saunders and still did not pass. Second time I redid Kaplan and Saunders and some other books that did not help me. This time I am going to the National Nursing Board site and doing the review there. I figure hey they should know what they are doing and besides I have read many posts by admins, and members like us who say that this is a good review.
I found that I too knew the stuff. Worked my butt off for each time but I discovered that I have anxiety. I would do I question and it would be a hard one and then I would get an easy one or a repeat of another question. I would get nervous and start to second guess myself and before I knew it I was in that downward spiral. I have since tried many different relaxation techniques and they do help. Even the wacky ones. I did talk to a professional about my results that came with my failure letter. So I know that it is not knowledge based nor is my problem not knowing how to discern the right answer. I lack confidence when I get crazy about this test.
I don't have this problem anywhere else but with the dreaded NCLEX and that is something I must conquer.
Don't give up. Take a break, relax and find a good review that works for you. We can all name reviews that we have tried or that worked for us but you have to find the one that fits you. Fits how you learn. Hurst is good, but so is the one on the national site. I would go to their web pages and check them out.
Just my two cents, so take it or leave it. But know this you are not alone and many people have to take this test a couple of times. Besides once you get that coveted license who cares how many times it took. :)
Here is the site for the NCSBN review. http://www.learningext.com/products/rnreview/review.asp
Hope this helps.
Thanks:) they never told us in Nursing school how hard this process would be... But I have my war face on... I won't be defeated.
