Yes, you can do this. There are workshops that can help you prepare, you can purchase a skills kit to practice the labs, and the study guide really spells everything out (once you get over the fact that it's 502 pages, it'll become your best friend for a while!). Remember, EC expects you to function as a first-day new grad for the CPNE -- you are not there to act as a seasoned nurse! The things you will be asked to do are very simple, very basic. No IV starts, nothing too invasive. Just basic assessments and management, with great attention to detail and meticulous documentation!
I agree with Lunah, if you don't have access to IVs, I would invest in a workshop. Or EC has a skills conference. I believe they also have a skills kit for you to work with as well. If you know anyone who is a RN and can help you that would be a big help too. There are also some videos on YouTube that demonstrate nursing skills. I think I just typed in: Nursing Skills or maybe I typed in IM injections, IV starts, etc. Anyway, they just want basic new grad skills. Keep a positive attitude.

Hi everybody! First congrats to those of you who recently passed the CPNE. Yeaaah! I am an avid forum reader, but not so much on the posting. :-) I am starting to get pretty nervous about the CPNE. I only have one test left and then its my turn to walk the plank!! I went straight to pedi dr office and then to home health from nursing school so my hospital experience is really lacking and I am afraid I wont remember everything in sequence and I dont remember much about Iv's from school. Can someone who feels so limited in skills pass this thing? Thanks!
