Hi.
I'm a Nurse working with the County of San Diego. I love working for the County and they have asked me to find out what young Nurses find important. Since I've been a Nurse for 40 years, I know what the Senior Bus Pass crowd thinks is important, but need help with what the under 30 crowd thinks...
Come on kids, tell me what the County has to be for you to work for them too.
Just give me 20 seconds of your time, a one word answer will do, like salary, or benefits, or cute guys and gals, or free training and development, or whatever it is for you.
Thank you very much.

Hi,
I don't know if I should be answering this (not new & not under 30:devil: ), but my biggie (because of my kids) is self scheduling.
Good Luck!

I'm way over 30, but what I'm hearing from my younger co-workers ( and I agree with this) is
My younger co-workers in general do not trust 'management' and are not going to put up with the crap that the older nurses were trained to tolerate that we should never have put up with ( abusive docs, horrible hours, short staffing).

Salary, benefits, retirement package, educational reimbursement. Scheduling is another biggie--I gotta have those 12-hour nights! :)

As a nurse nurse what I looked for was:
~ Salary
~ Scheduling - not only the days, but the shifts
~ Continuing education, and education reimbursement
~ Insurance and benefits
~ Opportunities for advancement
I know I'm over 30, but I am still a nurse nurse in my mind.

Hi. One Old Foggy to another (smile, I am waaay over 30, but just wanted to "chime in")
*** RESPECT
*** Ability to self schedule with the other RN members of the shift
*** More Autonomy - if not already practicing in a hospital which
believes in nurse autonomy
*** Make the BSN entry level for RN

Doctors to work with who are respectful of the nurses. Consequences for doctors who are rude to nurses, and vice versa.
