Student needs help (Tulsa OK schools)

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Hi to all,

I wanted to see if I can get some feedback on LPN schools in the Tulsa Oklahoma area. My question is, after asking numerous LPN's and RN's it seems that most of the schools in my area do not teach much. Mainly, study these chapters, with no actual teaching. I'm 48 and starting a second career. I started with CNA and just completed Advanced CMA. Both instructor did not teach. Maybe I'm old school, but discussion, diagram's, question and answer use to be part of teaching. I'll stop complaining now.

Does anyone know of ANY Tulsa area LPN course that might meet my old fashion idea of schooling?

Thank you bunches

Sooooo.....what did you decide? Are you doing ok?

I, too, am intersted in the TTC LPN program. They are not even accepting applications until April. I was given the impression that although the April applications would be considered for the Fall 2007 class, there is indeed a long waiting list. I took that as an opportunity to work on my CNA and spend time in the field. I also plan to take A&P and medical terminology while I wait, per Lana's suggestion on another thread. Since you already have the class time, I think the idea of working in the field and gaining your bearings that way may help. Good luck!

My instructor yesterday said there is a 2 year waiting list now at TTC to get into the LPN class.

EEECCK!!! A two-year waiting list! I was really hoping to get in for Fall 2007. I am in the perfect place in my life for nursing school right now. My oldest child is off on her own, my youngest is 11 and pretty self sufficent and my husband is behind me 100%. In addition to being able to support us financially while I devote myself to school, his own mother went to nursing school when he was 10 and he remembers how everyone had to pitch in. I turn forty in December and realize I am not getting any younger every day. Any suggestions on increasing my chances of getting in? Or should I try for enrollment at Platt? Platt is my least favorite and many, many times the cost. Thanks for any suggestions.

So I decided... I'm a fighter!! I didn't drop because I'm a survivor and I'm going to work harder! Thanks for all the support. We're all going to make great nurses. :nurse:

Congratulations to you for hanging in there. Isn't it great that we have AllNurses to support each other? Nursing education is hard work!

Hats off to you! I am so glad you decided to stick with it. You know you have what you need to succeed inside you. You have helped me see that dreams are worth fighting for, even if mine is road-blocked with waiting lists at the moment. I plan to see about meeting with someone in the nursing program at TTC and using my charm and obvious dedication to wiggle my way up the list. I want to be a nurse bad enough to fight for it, too!

Thanks to all of you on this board. You are a constant source of information and support. I feel lucky to have picked a field unlike any other. It creates such a strong bond between us.

WOOHOO!!! You keep on fighting girl!! We are all behind you. And you are gonna make one awesome nurse!!!
