  1. Lana, I am so happy for you! You even finished before your goal of March! You are my Nursing School Idol! You have been a source of knowledge and support for the board and I know you will be an awesome nurse! Congrats!
  2. Haven't been on the board this week and just read your message. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you as well. As if there wasn't enough onyour plate, we now have to deal with all the snow and ice! I am glad to see you are maintaining a positive attitude and I am sure your "new" house will look great!
  3. Hi Everyone! I'm Shellie. I'm a "pre-nursing" student, finishing my prereq's and hope to be accepted into the Fall 07 class at TTC and then bridge at TCC. I live in Tulsa with my husband and our son, age 11. I've always been interested in nursing but was afraid I wasn't smart enough. I earned by AD in legal studies because it seemed "easier" to me twenty years ago. I worked in the legal field for a few years until becoming a SAHM. As I have become older and wiser, I realize I can do anything I set my mind to and so, with my family's blessing, am begining my nursing journey. I look forward to getting to know all of you better.
  4. Hats off to you! I am so glad you decided to stick with it. You know you have what you need to succeed inside you. You have helped me see that dreams are worth fighting for, even if mine is road-blocked with waiting lists at the moment. I plan to see about meeting with someone in the nursing program at TTC and using my charm and obvious dedication to wiggle my way up the list. I want to be a nurse bad enough to fight for it, too! Thanks to all of you on this board. You are a constant source of information and support. I feel lucky to have picked a field unlike any other. It creates such a strong bond between us.
  5. EEECCK!!! A two-year waiting list! I was really hoping to get in for Fall 2007. I am in the perfect place in my life for nursing school right now. My oldest child is off on her own, my youngest is 11 and pretty self sufficent and my husband is behind me 100%. In addition to being able to support us financially while I devote myself to school, his own mother went to nursing school when he was 10 and he remembers how everyone had to pitch in. I turn forty in December and realize I am not getting any younger every day. Any suggestions on increasing my chances of getting in? Or should I try for enrollment at Platt? Platt is my least favorite and many, many times the cost. Thanks for any suggestions.
  6. I, too, am intersted in the TTC LPN program. They are not even accepting applications until April. I was given the impression that although the April applications would be considered for the Fall 2007 class, there is indeed a long waiting list. I took that as an opportunity to work on my CNA and spend time in the field. I also plan to take A&P and medical terminology while I wait, per Lana's suggestion on another thread. Since you already have the class time, I think the idea of working in the field and gaining your bearings that way may help. Good luck!
