Okay, I'll be the first...Keiser University.

U.S.A. Florida

Hello,

I wanted to begin a KU thread for those who are:

Thinking about attending,

Planning to attend,

Your 'last' resort,

Your 'plan B' if 'plan A' doesn't work out,

Keeping your options open, while still waiting to hear from the less expensive school(s), and/or wanting to begin your Nursing journey/career right away despite the odds.

So,

When do you plan on taking the TEAS or have you taken it already?

Did you complete your general education requirements or in the process of completing them?

When do you plan to begin your core (Nursing courses) requirements?

Which campus are you seeking to attend?

Let's chat, share thoughts and ideas. Hope to hear from you all soon...Take care.

Thanks, I will do so

That's great! As for the expense, you should check you local workforce center because they can help you with some money, which would be very helpful.

Thanks, i will so

Welcome to both of you.

Thanks!

I was accepted into keiser, but now I realize it will be expensive, I need to pay for so many *** damn things out oc pocket, they also require you to have health insurance, im unemployed, barely have money, i cannot afford to have health insurance, and i don't think my parent will pay for it

there it goes my dream to become a nurse, **** my life

I am currently unemployed myself, but what I plan on doing is getting a job as a nurse's aide hopefully by next month and have some money saved to start school in January. I decided not to rush to start in the fall as there were just too many things to get done and further I had not a dime. Can you delay your start date until January? Believe me, I know what you are talking about. I started LPN school a few years ago at a CC and I had to drop out because of finances. I didn't qualify for grants and I got no loans. There was always something to spend money on - tuition, physical, uniforms, first aid kit, watch (yep I didn't have one and had to borrow at first), blood pressure monitor, etc. I felt like giving up, but then I just went back to work, took some of my pre-requisites and then apply set my goal on RN school instead.

I am just saying that your dream is not over, look into options, speak to the school and see what they can do for you as well. Nursing school unfortunately can be a fight and you just have to decide to win that fight.

I heard Go Blue cost less than $50/month for health insurance.

You should check with your local workforce for grants, and go to a community health center for assistance regarding health insurance. Good luck and congrats.

no way i'm going to the keiser after finding out what i will really have to pay

it is only after you get accepted and actually talk with a financial advisor, and learn more that you realize how expensive is everything going to be

think about it, what if you fail one class, you can repeat, if you fail again, you are done, they kick you out, in fact, is probably in their benefit that you fail, so you retake the whole semester all over again, which means an extra $8000 for them lol ... they implement a bunch of testing to basically make you fail and retake the class again

it would suck to get into huge debt, and if you fail, you cannot continue, then you are left with huge debt and no degree, at least going to a community college, even if you fail, you will have no debt or very little debt

It's obvious that you didn't do your research about the school...Either way good luck on your decision.

lol yeah I didn't do enough research, but still there are many things, that you cannot find out unless you are finally accepted, it is only then when you find out many things, that they don't tell you before

I don't know what was told to you, but that is Not true at all. I personally went to an orientation at the school and met a diverse group of prospects, the presentation that was discussed and shared was very informative because we collectively address our concerns (that includes Money); and we didn't sugarcoat anything. Yes, KU along with Nova and Barry are a private schools, and of course the cost is more oppose to the public state colleges. At the end of the day it is your/our individual choice, and its nobody business to disembellish the school or ones choice and bank account. Once again good luck.

I simply cannot afford all the upfront payments, including health insurance, also even if you work really hard, it is still possible to fail, and then you are stuck with a huge debt, im afraid of that happening, because is something out of your control, you can be a good student, and work hard, but you never know

Hi Rufian,

I see you've been around for a while and have working on going to nursing school for awhile. It sounds like you are afraid of failure given what you post on this thread and the Broward thread. I'm the same way. I struggled with where to go for awhile now and ultimately decided Keiser was the best fit for me. At some point, you have to make a decision and just go for it. You can make it happen. Don't over analyze and just do it.

Even if you don't go to Keiser, don't let fear of failure get in your way. Best of luck to you.
