ugh, ok i just need somewhere to vent. i am soo angry at myself right now. i had a microbiology test on tuesday and i emailed my teacher asking if she could email me my grade when she gets a chance. she hasnt yet, but im sure its because of the holiday and everything (i hope she hasnt sent it b/c i didnt do well and she doesnt wanna be the bearer of bad news :-/ ). anyways, well i could just kick myself b/c i know i missed at least 3 questions. i know b/c i looked em up in my book after the test. and well im mad b/c i KNEW the answer and i had it right but i kept analyzing the question and second guessing myself and changed the answer at the last minute. ive made As on everything so far and i have a 98 in there but im so scared that if i dont get an A on this test theres no chance for me making an A in the class. we have 1 more lecture test and 1 more lab test left and some other grades left here and there. but yeah, sorry i just had to vent somewhere b/c im literally like fixing to pull my hair out here with this test. i need to know my grade now so i can just know how i did. im going to be sooo mad at myself if i dont get an A on this test b/c i know its b/c of those 3 answers that i changed at the last minute...ughhh! there were 50 questions, so each is worth 2 pts..oh and there was a bonus worth 5 pts which i think i got right but still im just really hating myself right now. ok well im done venting for now..hope everyone has a good day..bye!

I very much understand what you are going through...hopefully the bonus question balanced things out. Your average is very high so I don't think a B on this test will change your overall A. Hang in there, I know it's hard to wait t'ill your next class meeting. {{{{{ hugs}}}}}

I know exactly what you are going through, but please don't stress over it!!!!
We're not expected to get every question on every test correct.
Try to relax, and just continue to do your best.
Good luck. :)

I became close with our class validictorian and OHMYGOD you sound just like her after a test!
Sorry, sweetie, I'm not really laughing at you but you're just bringing back memories. I remember after a test, we would all discuss the questions and the rationale behind them and how many we thought we missed right off the bat was always a part of those discussions. We also had a couple students who would go to the instructors after every test and fight them on the questions they got wrong! LOL...while the rest of us would make fun of them, we were also grateful for them for winning the class the extra point or two.
I totally know what you're going through...nothing really to be done about it but try to relax; I know it's easier said than done.
Hang in there!

big hugs to you!!
microbiology was the first science prerequisite that i took after deciding to really pursue nursing (and after an absurdly easy dev psych class - another story), and it was so important to me to do well. so important. and i remember freaking out, too, about how i missed questions that i knew but either blanked on during the test or second- and third-guessed myself so much that i practically made eraser holes in my scantron sheet (and ended up picking the wrong answer as well). i remember having a 98 average in the class, too... and then taking a midterm lab practical that i thought would be the death of me. i knew i had answered some questions wrong - questions that i was kicking myself over later - plus i suspected others that i might have screwed up as well.
i got an a in the class. not on that test or on every test, but the class overall.
point is, i spent a lot of time stressing myself out, which, in turn, caused me to not be at my optimum performance level come test time every few weeks or so. from what i gathered from your post, you have nothing to worry about. you are clearly an intelligent, motivated, and focused student, and if you score a b on the test, it won't change that. plus, i don't think a b or even a couple b's (i had those) will flub up your a average. maybe it will put it on the lower side of a, but hey: an a is an a, and who cares if it's a 98, a 94, or a 90.00001?
take a deep breath, relax, and let it go as much as possible. you've taken the test and it's out of your hands. like i said, you are an excellent student, and i doubt you have anything to worry about. your professor is probably not worried, either! he/she probably didn't feel too compelled to write you back right away because you probably did quite well... and it is a holiday weekend! too much turkey and stuffing, maybe? :chuckle
hugs to you - i'm sure you are fine.

I too can relate very much. The only thing is that I haven't taken Micro yet, and my stomach growls at the thought :uhoh21:
Good luck, I bet you did better than you expect :balloons:

You did the same thing that a lot of students do in nursing school - you over analyzed the questions rather than going with your first instinct. It seems the smarter the student, the more likely they are to fall into this habit. Try to nip it in the bud now! It only gets worse once the nursing classes start. The reason? On those tests, there isn't one right answer. Quite often, all four or five answers are technically right, you just have to prioritize and decide which one is MOST appropriate. This is what critical thinking is about. So try to trust your gut and see what happens.
Good luck in school!
