But I would dealy love to hear from anyone who can give me feedback on Scottsdale Healtcare Osborne campus. This is a nite positon...unit unknown at the present. I looked at their website and the Scottsdale site also...but can't find much out about the area either, so I would appreciate any info given..:)Thank you very much in advance for taking the time to respond..And pray I don't burn up out there being greedy...:chuckle
fulwood 110 Posts Jun 17, 2002 Brownms46,I live in Mesa Arizona and hear only good things about Scottsdale Healthcare. I am not an RN (yet!) but I had been trying for ages with the hospitals in this area to let me shadow a nurse but to no avail. They all cited confidentiality issues/insurance issues etc. etc. SHC was the ONLY ONE that would even consider me for such a thing and welcomed me with open arms. I still email the student coordinator Kathy Barnes at SHC and she responds to every email I write. They are also to best of my knowledge the only hospital in this area that will pay for school tuition upfront and even only working part-time you qualify for full-time benefits and tuition reimbursement. They have also just reached an agreement with ASU for nurses at SHC that want to pursue their BSN to be able to achieve that in one year. Scottsdale can be very expensive place to live but other places not too far away like Mesa, Phoenix etc. you can find affordable housing. They are in my opinion one of the more forward thinking hospitals in the Valley of the Sun. I hope you are prepared for the heat - it's 105 today. All the best.

live4today, RN 5,099 Posts Specializes in Community Health Nurse. Jun 17, 2002 Other than having to tolerate the (((((HEAT))))) in Arizona, I have always liked the state myself. My oldest sister and her husband live right outside Phoenix, and I have cousins near the Scottsdale area. They say they wouldn't live anywhere else, so... :)Back in 1972, I lived in Phoenix, and didn't mind it there...except for the heat...it's dry heat though. I have pictures of their dust storms, which BEFORE they break loose are very pretty (orangish/yellow in color). Oh, the Grand Canyon is awesome to see, and Flagstaff will cool you off as they get snow. That's the place to go ski if you ski. I don't think you can go wrong with Scottsdale. It is a ritzy area, but there are sooooo many sites to see in and around that area. If you decide to go there, let me know. I'll connect you with my oldest sis who is a real doll baby to know. She would love to show you around, befriend you and make you feel more at home there. Best of everything to you, Brownie! :)

ruffhouser 37 Posts Jun 18, 2002 Hi! I live in Gilbert, AZ. I did a clinical rotation at Scottsdale Osborne my last semester of nursing school (1.5 years ago). That particular campus is close to the freeway (101) and is easily accessable throughout the valley. I was very impressed with the professionalism and caring of many of the nurses that I worked with while I was there. I have some friends that work there and they seem to be very happy with their choice. If you are interested in ED/Trauma, they take a lot of the bad cases there, so you would probably be able to see a lot of various things. I hope that helps. If you have any other questions, just ask. Take care and God bless.
