OHSU 3 Year BSN, 2019 Fall Start!!!

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

It was the last day to do it, but I OFFICIALLY SUBMITTED MY APPLICATION TO OHSU!!!! ?

Anyone else applying for this cohort?

A little about me: I am an older, non-traditional student, single Mama with 8 and 13 year old boys! I currently hold a BA in Psych. I wanted to apply to the ABSN, however, my Statistics class is over 7 years old, and it was also a C. ? I will just have to retake it, if I end up needing to apply next year. This is also my very first application cycle. ?

I feel like OHSU is definitely my top choice, but I will also be applying to Linfield, and possibly Concordia (only because they have an accelerated program, and seem to offer more start dates.

Now the waiting begins!!!! ? ?

Yes. Monmouth was 15/16 if I am recalling the dates correctly.

Oh wow! Okay, that is a fast turn around! Portland was last Thursday and Friday. They told us they will begin making decisions this Thursday, and will send out notification sometime after that. ???

Same!! ? How did you think your interview went? What did you think about the process?

I feel really good! I made sure to take my time and full 2 minutes to speak. I was surprised people didn’t. I enjoyed the format. I appreciate the opportunity to do the essay because you get to say things you couldn’t or maybe forgot to say.

I don’t view it as a competition. These people could possibly be your cohort. We need to lift and support each other. 3 years of family. We are all qualified.

How do you feel??

I thought mine went horrible! I almost cried in the car going home. I spoke way too fast, felt like I dragged my topics on, and sometimes I was out of the interviewers office way before the time was up. I forgot to mention relevant stories to some interviewers. I actually thought I had no chance.

Was this your first time interviewing with OHSU?

The interview isn’t the only factor. Just remember that. My fingers are crossed for everyone.

If we don’t get in. I’d love to do a mock interview with people next year. Build each other up. Ya know?

I enjoyed the format, as well. I feel they did a really nice job settling any nerves we may have had during the orientation. The staff could not have been any nicer. I feel like I did well during my interview... don’t feel like I would have changed anything! So, I’m that respect, I will be fine with whatever the outcome may be... I OF COURSE want to be admitted, however if waitlisted or otherwise, feel like I did my best and don’t regret anything I said or didn’t say. ?

Oh my gosh... I am so sorry!! ? Don’t be so hard on yourself... you were there for a reason. They expect people to be nervous. ?

Yes, my first time at OHSU. I work at OHSU currently, so I really understand what their values are here and who they are.

Luckily, I must’ve done something right because they accepted me. Must’ve been the essays!

@Jofro46 congrats! Did you apply to the Portland campus?

I don’t think they did. Portland won’t hear back until tomorrow (earlier) mostly likely next week.
