OHSU 3 Year BSN, 2019 Fall Start!!!

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

It was the last day to do it, but I OFFICIALLY SUBMITTED MY APPLICATION TO OHSU!!!! ?

Anyone else applying for this cohort?

A little about me: I am an older, non-traditional student, single Mama with 8 and 13 year old boys! I currently hold a BA in Psych. I wanted to apply to the ABSN, however, my Statistics class is over 7 years old, and it was also a C. ? I will just have to retake it, if I end up needing to apply next year. This is also my very first application cycle. ?

I feel like OHSU is definitely my top choice, but I will also be applying to Linfield, and possibly Concordia (only because they have an accelerated program, and seem to offer more start dates.

Now the waiting begins!!!! ? ?

For those accepted, when do you have to send in your acceptance/deposit? I was wait listed as highly likely and am wondering when they will start offering alternates the open spots. Thanks in advance ?

I sent my acceptance yesterday, I believe it was by June 15th.

Same! I’m “moderately” likely, however. Does anyone have any idea, how many people they have on the initial alternates list, historically? ?

No, and they won't tell you unfortunately. All they will say is that they use the previous years wait list acceptances to get an idea for this years. They are pretty close mouthed about the wait list at all (I got wait listed for the ABSN as well so I already tried to ask lol).

I got my welcome packet in the mail today for the Monmouth campus!

Hi there! Is anyone familiar with the Klamath falls clinical sites for OIT? And if so, does anyone know if the nursing program allows students to do clinical rotations in the ED, ICU, OR?

Thanks!

Skylakes is the only hospital in the area, I haven't seen any OIT OHSU students at the hospitals in Medford, so I think they do most of their rotations there for acute I and II. There's a couple days in the acute care quarters where you rotate through ED/ICU/OR, and you can be placed in those areas for integrated practicum. If you want to work in any of those areas it's probably good to do your IP there because some units will only hire new grads who did IP on that specialty unit.

Ok very cool! Thanks for the info. I was recently accepted into the sky lakes new grad nurse residency program and im so excited to be working with nursing students in the hospital.

So, I heard on another thread that OHSU would start working through it's alternate list this past Monday! Has anyone heard anything, yet?!
