Hello Everyone!
I thought I'd start a thread for those who applied to OHSU for the 2018 year and were placed on the alternate list. My hope is that we can semi- keep track of wait list movement on this forum.
I applied to the Ashland campus for the ABSN and the BSN programs. I was waitlisted as "highly likely" for the ABSN, and I have not heard from the BSN program yet.
Anyone else out there?
Yeah I couldn't remember where but I feel like I saw you got in somewhere! I was accepted at PCC and am an alternate at OHSU. If you get the call from OHSU, where would you decide to go?
That's awesome! I heard good things about PCC. I really think I would accept OHSU, its a dream school but I'm trying not to get my hopes up. Anywhere we decide to go is a huge accomplishment. Would you accept OHSU?

So back in April, OHSU was my first choice and when I wasn't accepted there, I was pretty bummed out with the alternate designation. I felt like OHSU was where I was supposed to go. After a few months of really breaking it down, I would be going to OHSU for 3 full years before graduating and becoming licensed. I am 32 and I want to be working asap. With PCC or Linfield, my licensing time is cut down by 6-9 months. PCC is much, much cheaper than both and feels like a great fit after going to orientation and all of that. Linfield is EXTREMELY expensive so that is hard to justify but I have a friend who is there now and a few more who have gone through that program and said it would be my dream school. It does start in Jan of 2019, but is only 4 semesters long. As of right now, it is PCC all the way for me. I would probably decline OHSU solely for the fact that it costs more and maybe I'm a little bitter? Nah

You have a lot of great points. When I found out I was an alternate, I was bummed and told myself I didn't want to go to a school where I was just a second choice. (I think I was definitely bitter lol). MHCC was my first choice because it is where I took all of my pre-reqs and I like the school. So I was thrilled I got in but upset that I have to wait until January to start, I've already waited so long! Lol. Honestly, I go back and forth every day... some days OHSU is too expensive and I want to graduate with less debt so I decide against it. Other days, I want to go to OHSU because I think that I'm fortunate to even be an alternate lol! I have also thought about the community college route because we could start working sooner and I'm 27 with a daughter and I need an income! So I totally understand where you are coming from. PCC & MHCC are so cheap compared to OHSU. It's a hard decision..

Yeah I battle with those thoughts myself. The only bad thing about working as an RN with an ADN is that it is very limited to where you can work and your pay won't be terribly great. I definitely want to work in a hospital and for the first few years, I don't really care which department I am in. I did however hear that Providence will hire ADN grads with BSN intentions. I think they may even help pay for it? Not sure, that was just something I had heard from a friend. I am trying to weigh out those options the best I can. I guess we will see! Is anyone currently applying for Linfield? Their Spring 19 app is open.

Gosh I hope so! The wait is torture for us all lol. Really? It seems like everyone that I know that got in is accepting their position so I was worried they wouldn't need any alternates!!
