  1. Hey everyone. To anybody who was fortunate enough to get hired into the RN Residency program up in Vancouver, shoot me a private message if you want to exchange info prior to our start date. I already live in Portland but am making the move across the bridge into Vancouver. I was hired in the ED. CONGRATS to everyone and thank god for PeaceHealth during this pandemic LOL. Cheers.
  2. Hi all, I was accepted to Spring 2019 at Linfield but ended up declining to go to PCC instead (only because I received the acceptance letter 2 days before fall term started at PCC). I am surprised there were only 4 people taken off the waitlist! I had a 3.91 prereq GPA and have 5 years of firefighter/EMT-B experience. I have heard the program is great, I have a few friends who are either in it or are alum. Typical schedule could be all day Monday on campus (lecture/lab), half the day Tuesday (pharm or patho) and same for Wednesday (usually lecture again). At least that is what my schedule had been this whole year more or less. Then clinical of course, which could be thurs and fri for 8 hours each or one long day (12 hours) on one of those days or even a Saturday. The schedules in nursing school aren't bad at all, it is just finding/making the extra time for the massive amount of studying, prep materials, papers (lots of papers...), projects, etc. I highly recommend applying to Linfield since they receive about 1/3-1/2 the applications when compared to OHSU and the other local OCNE programs, so your chances are better. Having a previous degree also helps a lot. And, if you have not already, I recommend getting some good volunteer time in prior to your application. That is a big one for Linfield. Message me if any of you have any questions! Good luck everyone! :) Oh, and I am not sure about Linfield but each class is on campus but you do take quizzes and what not from home sometimes.
  3. Thank you and congrats to you too! You will love Linfield, I have friends currently in or are alumni from that program and have nothing but great things to say. Rest up over the next few months and enjoy your free time while it lasts! It goes quick...
  4. Hey guys. I just got my letter of acceptance in the mail but will be declining. I got in to PCC and classes start on Monday and would feel HORRIBLE leaving the program now. Plus, everyone in my cohort is pretty awesome as well as the faculty. That will open up a spot for any of you on the waitlist! Congrats to everyone accepted and waitlisted :)
  5. I believe they said 40 spots for non-Linfield (transfer students like us). I can't remember the # of qualified/competitive apps. I do not think it was many though.
  6. Hey Jenn I sent you a PM.
  7. Awesome another fellow PCC student! I actually got accepted to PCC for this fall. They had over 650 qualified apps out of 800+ and only accepted 32 for this fall. Super small cohort. So as of now, that's where I'm going. You'll have great odds at Linfield. More seats, less total apps, I'm sure you'll get good news :) I have a friend there now and he is loving it.
  8. Hello :) Thanks for the info! I am still a little surprised they let us know via email. All of the other schools around town typically reach out via email and/or phone call, some followed up by a letter after the fact. Did you apply anywhere else this last app cycle jennxxmarie?
  9. Well this is all good news, thank you for sharing!
  10. Dang so that means about 1 in 4 solid applicants will get in. I am guessing "viable" means "stud applicant" right? :)
  11. Yeah I completely understand. I have about 130 transferable credits and after really thinking hard about it, 3 years is a long time to add to the 3 years I have already more or less completed. I was an alternate at OHSU and I am actually glad I was not accepted. But my mindset was to get in wherever I could early on. If they called me tomorrow, I would decline for sure. That is why Linfield sounds so nice at 4 semesters and even the OCNE CC's around here. You are licensed after two years and if you can find a job, you can complete the final year of your BSN at OHSU online while working. I had a friend do that and she has been working in the ICU at Legacy Emmanuel (pretty sweet gig I must say). I have seen the curriculum for the final year at OHSU and is seems quite light if you have all the 300-400 level non-nursing credits completed, which I believe is 15 credits.
  12. Yeah I did but I was accepted at PCC for this fall. Unless they get back to me pretty quick, I think that is where I will be going.
  13. I heard a friend that UP is not going to be accepting any nursing cohorts for the next few years and I believe that included it's most recent. That means people who were accepted and alternate at UP this last go around ended up applying for Linfield since UP was no longer an option. I was told there was more apps then usual too.
  14. Did they give you guys any indication of when they were going to start letting people know? From my understanding they are hoping to have everyone evaluated by Sept 1st but because of UP (hey thanks UP.......), they have more applicants that usual... My guess would be mid to late sept.
  15. Yeah, just make sure if you are getting the Hep B series of shots, that your dates are good. They have to be taken 30 days apart and the 2nd one has to be done and submitted into CB by 8/10. If you missed the window, you'll have to go in for a Hep-B titer.
