OHSU Portland Undergrad Alternates/Waitlist 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone. Since emails have gone out to respective admitted and alternate students at OHSU PDX for the fall 2018 cohort, I thought I would create a discussion for any admits and alternates/waitlistees to attempt to keep track of the students who go from alternate to accepted, people who plan to accept or decline their spot at OHSU, PCC or any other regional programs, etc. Feel free to post your alternate designation if you would like and any other schools you may be or are already accepted to as well. If you were fortunate enough to make it this far, be proud of your accomplishments, you are one in a million. Or maybe just one in 450, it is a matter of perspective :) . May good news reach you all in the coming weeks and months!

I got interviews for PCC and CCC. I was initially waitlisted at CCC top 1-15 alternates. last week I was moved up into a seat at CCC. I excepted my seat but I'm still waiting on PCC to Make my final decision.

Hey that is great news, congrats! If you had to pick, which way do you think you would go?

I've been thinking a lot about this. In the beginning I wanted PCC. I'm familiar with the campus, it's closer to my house, I love the school. However CCC has taken the lead. Top nursing school in Oregon, 100% pass rate on the NCLEX, great clinical locations and only 24 students! So I'm thinking CCC.

Yeah I have heard from many other people that CCC is absolutely awesome and with that NCLEX pass rate, wow. Did you take most/all of your prereqs at PCC? I did, mainly at Sylvania and a few at RC and SE. Maybe we had some classes together? Keep us up to date on your decision! Either way you'll be all set for fall, congrats! :)

Did you apply to OHSU?

I took all at PCC Sylvania except microbiology which I took at RC. What is your name?

I am not sure I can say my name on the forum but I will shoot you a message.

Weird it wouldn't let me reply to your message.

Yeah we probably didn't cross paths. I took my AP with Degraw! He was great!

Good luck getting into OHSU.

There is something wrong with the allnurses messaging. Hey I called it! :) . He is a good guy, I like him a lot. I actually listened to his recorded lectures while I was in 232, helped a ton. OHSU would be awesome. The hospital is so close I could walk there from my house everyday but I wouldn't get that call for quite a long time, if at all. Probably the end of July at the earliest since I am a moderately likely alternate. Most people I know who landed in the top 40 have either accepted or plan on it in the next week or two. PCC would be awesome, I am definitely holding out for them. It's a crap shoot who gets in, everyone who did the essay at PCC is absolutely worthy.

I agree about all being worthy. the stress of it all is crazy. Maybe I'll see you at PCC orientation. I'll look for the tallish short haired guy. Lol

After the OHSU decisions came out, I was super bummed and pretty stressed out/let down for about a week and then I started to relax a little. I have backup plans in place but didn't think I would need them to be honest. Definitely one of the most nerve racking, humbling experiences I have been apart of. Lol, yeah holler if you see me! I hope to be seeing you June 20th!
