OHSU is a non-profit public higher education university located in Portland, Oregon. The history of Oregon Health & Science University began in 1910 as a training school for nurses. Over the last century, the School of Nursing has thrived and flourished as it continues to provide a high-quality education for nurses who serve Oregonians.
Campus Locations
OHSU has a total of five campuses including the virtual campus for distance learning: Ashland, Monmouth, Klamath Falls, Portland, La Grande.

Accelerated Bachelor of Science Degree - This Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree offers students who have bachelor degrees in other fields and would now like to become nurses. This course will award students credits with their other bachelor degrees, therefore they will be accelerated for prerequisites.
3-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing - The Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education enables Oregon nursing programs to expand and offer their programs to students to receive their BSN degree while preparing graduates with competencies that help with addressing the needs of Oregon's healthcare population.
RN to BS - There are two ways an RN can earn his or her BSN through this program option. Students can be currently attending a nursing program affiliated with the OCNE and transfer directly or applicants with a prior Associate's in nursing degree from a non-OCNE school can complete their Bachelors degree.

Masters
Accelerated Bachelor to Masters (Family, Nurse-Midwifery or Psychiatric Mental Health) - The Bachelor's to Master's program can be completed within two years of full-time enrollment or stay three years and graduate with a DNP.
Accelerated Bachelor to PhD - This program is designed for nurses who want to complete their PhD from a Bachelor's level. The program can be completed within 15 months.
RNBS to Masters - The School of Nursing offers two RNBS to Master's in nursing pathways: Nursing Education (MNE) and Health Systems and Organizational Leadership (HSOL). Students are able to choose their area of interest directly after completing the baccalaureate nursing degree.
Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) - This program prepares students to manage the older adult population and their health conditions.
Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Primary/Acute Care - The program is designed to prepare Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN) to specialize in the care of children from birth to 21 years of age across healthcare settings.
Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) - Students can opt to enroll in the Masters of Nursing (MN) or the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). The FNP DNP program is the terminal degree for a family nurse practitioner.
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program prepares graduates for advanced specialty practice with a focus on psychotherapy and psychopharmacology.
A Masters degree in nursing can be earned in two years, at a full-time status, or three years and graduate with a doctor of nursing practice (DNP) degree.
Accelerated Bachelor to Masters (Family, Nurse-Midwifery or Psychiatric Mental Health) - The Bachelor's to Master's program can be completed within two years of full-time enrollment or stay three years and graduate with a DNP.
Accelerated Bachelor to PhD - This program is designed for nurses who want to complete their PhD from a Bachelor's level and transfer into the PhD into the nursing program to be completed within 15 months.

Nurse-Midwifery
If a student enters the Nurse-Midwifery program after completing a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, the full-time student typically is eligible for nurse-midwifery certification after completing 2 years of didactic and clinical education and receiving the master of nursing degree.
Those who do not hold a bachelor's degree in nursing enter the program as Accelerated Bachelor's Program/ Nurse-Midwifery Graduate students. Students are able to choose their specialty of midwifery at this time. The program is a rigorous accelerated bachelor's in nursing program which culminates in receiving a Master in Nursing (MN) degree. They are then eligible to sit for nurse-midwifery certification.
Both pathways include the option to pursue a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree, which adds an additional year to the educational time frame after certification.
Health Systems and Organizational Leadership - The Health Systems and Organizational Leadership program prepares nurses for roles in a variety of organizational settings from acute care, long term care, community care, and beyond.
Nursing Education - This program is designed for nurses who want to become faculty members in a school of nursing and help train new nurses in the classroom and clinical settings.

Three pathways
- Post Baccalaureate (BS) (BSN) for those who desire to become an advanced practice nurse and earn a DNP
- Post Master's program for those who hold a Masters degree as an APRN or in healthcare management, leadership or administration
- Students may choose to earn a second APRN specialty and complete the DNP
For each of the specialties listed below students can enter with a bachelor's degree in nursing and exit with the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. The DNP curriculum is 3 years of full time coursework.

Nurse Anesthesia
The OHSU Nurse Anesthesia Program prepares registered nurses to become advanced practitioners in the field of anesthesia where they administer general and regional anesthesia to surgical and obstetric patients. Students earn a Doctor of Nursing (DNP) degree upon completion of the 36 month program. Most courses are offered face to face on campus. Core courses may be offered as on-line or hybrid format.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
Students who are choosing to complete a PhD degree can usually complete it within two years. During that time, students are able to be under the independent guidance of a faculty Dissertation Chair. Upon completion of their research, students submit a dissertation either in a traditional format or a manuscript-based dissertation. Applicants may enter the program with a prior master's degree in nursing or with a baccalaureate degree in nursing.

OHSU maintains continuous accreditation by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
The Bachelor of Science (BS) in nursing, Master's in Nursing (MN), and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree programs are accredited through the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
The Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME) accredited the Nurse-Midwifery Program.
The School of Nursing Nurse Anesthesia program is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA).
