OHSU BSN PDX program applicants - 2010

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

Hi,

Anyone else out there getting anxious to hear from OHSU's Portland campus for their BSN program? They said they'll notify in early May which is still a month away, but I just want to know now! It's my first time applying and the only program that I applied to this year, so I'm not counting on it.

Good luck to everyone!

:)

I just called to clear this up, and it was just as I thought--only a few, not all, of the accepted applicants were notified by e-mail due to specific circumstances, and not all decisions have been made, and letters will be posted today, so should be received tomorrow or by Friday. There's also a fair amount of applicants that are placed on the wait-list, and many of those spots open up as people apply to more than one school and not all will accept OHSU.

Yeah, seeing as someone called and actually heard that selected applicants will be notified by email, I'm not going to get too excited about it. Maybe they just decided to notify some people by email and others by snail mail but I've got a bad feeling about it... Maybe I will try to call on my lunch break and get the information straight from the horse's mouth. If I get any new insight or information, I'll be sure to let you all know! And if anyone else has anything to ease the nervousness we're all feeling, please share! Similarly to Raybgl, I'm definitely feeling the stress and anxiety! Hang in there, everyone!

k1977- thank you for this clarification!! :-)

What would be a "specific circumstance"??

MacKay, I didn't ask, but it's probably circumstances where applicants applied to more than one campus. I'm really not worried until I get a letter!

Oh ok. That is so weird because I know someone who actually works at OHSU and she said the only way to be accepted was by mail.....but maybe that is just for the campus I applied for....not PDX or KF. I guess we will all know soon enough....just stressful in the meantime! Wouldn't it be aweful if letters didn't come until monday!!

The woman I spoke with in admissions said the letters were posted today, so for those of us that live in Portland, we should receive them tomorrow, latest by Friday.

You know that assumption is very logical, with people applying to multiple campuses there must have been a great deal of applicants jockeyed around to allow the most qualified applicants, example if OHSU accepted 10% of applicants and 8% of those were to multiple campuses they might want to seat the 2% with only one campus choice first because they were able to move the other 8% of qualified applicants to there second choice keeping the largest amount of the highest scoring applicants. Might put some peoples minds at ease...

Exactly--I'm sure they have this process down to a science at this point.

What are these "circumstances" that allow certain people to be told before others? It seems unfair to me.

ALso- I called today and they said letters havent been mailed yet. Why are they telling everyone different dates?

Oakandruby-

which campus did you apply to?
