hi RACHEL-EMT!!!!I'm also an alternate for OHSU, but for Ashland campus. I got my letter on thursday, the 5th. I hope there are not too many alternates! I would really want to get a spot as i was told that not everybody will be able to go where they got accepted. I called OHSU to ask about it and they said that they end up using some of their alternates. It's tough waiting!!!!
Please post everybody who are alternates, so we can get some idea how many of us there are.

Samurai- My interview is on 5/17 at 8:30. This is my first time interviewing for school so I am wondering what goes on for it to last for 3 hours. If anyone has interviewed with mt. hood before what are you doing that it takes so long?

Summer10,
Congrats on also getting alternate status!!! So are you sticking with Ashland only or did you check the box for all campuses? I'm sticking to Monmouth only...only place besides Portland that I want to go. I hope that's true about OHSU using alternates because I find it hard to believe that anyone would pass up their spot. Oh well...we'll see. :)
P.S.- To anyone looking into EMT I highly reccomend it! It provides a ton of experience with BLS skills as well as patient interaction. I currently work for Metro West and feel like I've gained invaluable experience that has prepared me to be confident going into Nursing!
Good luck to everyone!!!!

2010_Student...where did you apply to? And yes, getting on the waiting list is still pretty impressive, it's a competitive place!
I applied to MHCC, PCC, OHSU, and CC. IF I get selected to interview at CC I will withdraw my app. b/c it was sort of a back-up school for me (it is far from where I live). If I get into PCC, I will do a little research as to MHCC vs PCC, but will likely go to MHCC. I am also staying on the alternate list for OHSU, and keeping my fingers crossed :).
There was a lot of criticism in another thread as to giving info away about interviews, so I will carefully answer this question... reread your letter- mine was pretty specific about what would happen (ie, written and oral portion). It's a group interview, so it takes a bit of time. All in all, the whole thing was very well run, and made an excellent impression on me of the school. In fact, I will probably be going to MHCC because of the faculty I met at the interview.
Best of luck to you!
I dont want specifics I am just asking what is going on that physically makes it so that the interview is 3 hours long. I get that you get some time to write and essay and then answer on question orally, but are there like 20 people in a time slot that makes it last so long? I dont think the answer to that questions will give me an unfair advantage :)

Deasiac, I applied for the part-time programs as well and I'm not quite sure why it takes 3 hours. This is my first year applying, but fortunately I got my acceptances letter today from OHSU. Good Luck on your interview! :)
2010_student, MHCC is a wonderful program. I have a few friends that went through MHCC nursing and another friend on the alternate list for Fall 2010. MHCC passing rate is 97.44 and PCC is 94.39 as of 2009 you can find these figures at the Oregon State Board of Nursing website. I will caution you about PCC, because they're new to the OCNE program so many flaws will surface. Best of luck to you! And congrats on alternate status w/OHSU. I got my acceptances letter today from OHSU, so potentially we might be classmates.:)

I'm a junior in the Ashland program. I just wanted to let you know that quite a few of my friends, who are in the program with me now, were alternates. Don't give up hope!! and Congrats on getting an alternate spot!
CuriousMe,
How's the course load during Sophomore year? I'm hoping to work part-time during the program. And how soon should I start looking for an apartment in Ashland or should I live in Medford? Sorry about the twenty questions...just so excited to find someone going through the OHSU Ashland program. Any tips/Advice would be greatly appreciated.

And I have learned that Anatomy and Physiology is OHSU School of Nursing's main focus on their application processing.
Me not accepted.
